Notre Dame: FootballScoop is hearing that an assistant coach in the SEC was asking coaches last night if they thought he should go with Tommy Tuberville to Notre Dame if Tubs got the head coaching job in South Bend. This makes us wonder if Tuberville has his agent, Jimmy Sexton, in contact with Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick. Our source tell us Tubs has several coaches already in mind for his next job, a plan that could very well include Texas running backs coach Major Applewhite as his offensive coordinator. We hear Tuberville was very complimentary of Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson in a radio interview yesterday, and thought Notre Dame might be wise to go after Johnson. You wouldn't think the former Auburn head coach would make those comments if he was very interested in the Notre Dame job….or is Tubs playing the cards just right?

I have been saying that Paul Johnson is a perfect fit for ND. Bring back Tony Rice as QB coach and they would be set. Seriously, Johnson has won everywhere he has been running the same system.

His stock will never be higher than it is now and for all he's done there, Cincinnati is still Cincinnati. One of the smallest stadiums in I-A and no matter what you do there, there will still really be only one true football power in Ohio and it won't be Cincinnati. If he doesn't leave now, he may be the next Greg Schiano. And from Notre Dame's perspective, it's hard to see how they could get a better coach than Kelly.

he was the hot guy at Boise and has gone nowhere at Colorado.. of course Kelly will have a better name to recruit to, as well as a cushy schedule complete with service academies every year (even though Cholly couldn't beat Navy consistently). So we'll see I guess...

will end up at Virginia. I don't know who will end up at ND, but I'll go ahead and guess Brian Kelly.

A Notre Dame v. Navy game if Paul Johnson were to end up in South Bend? They would be running the same offense and wearing virtually the same uniforms. It would look like the damn spring game.
