A couple of things that stood out to me.....
1. Although advertised as making a great strides throughout the fall, Ricco Sanders looked sub-par at best yesterday. During individual passing drills, Sanders fumbled the ball on more than one occasion when DBs would step to be physical after the catch. He repeatedly gave up on running routes if the ball wasn't put exactly where he wanted it. To put it frankly, he looked like he just didn't even wanna be out there. I was excited about this guy until yesterday.
2.On to the QBs. It became very evident why Relf isn't throwing the ball. I mean he looked worse than Rick 'Wild Thing' Vaughn before he got the skull glasses. On one out route he was throwing to a Grad Assistant that was standing still. He overthrew the ball by about 20 yards and hit a porta-john. Tyson looked real crisp on all his passes, especially the deep ball. Tyler Russell looks to be developing nicely. He is a lot better in his decision making and faster. His deep ball is seriously a work of art in motion. Didn't really see much out of Stegall, but I spent most of my time watching the D-line and running backs.
3. Montrell Conner looks like a man-child. After an off-season of weights and film study, he should easily be able to make a great partner in crime with Vick Ballard. Ladarius Perkins may or may not have top end speed, but the way he uses his quickness and technique to get position and accelerate past defenders will easily make him dangerous on offense.
4.One thing that had to impress me the most about the practice yesterday was how motivated and disciplined the team was on a Tuesday practice this late in the season. You can tell they all have come a long long way since the spring and that the coaching staff has done what they get paid to do (which is coach crooms). You can definitely tell that they have a lot determination to finish the season strong. During the scrimmage session and one-on-ones the competition and trash talk was the same as it was during the spring. Left the field feeling pretty wooly heading into next week.
Final Tidbit- Templeton Hardy is a huge huge BUST!! Also, Mcrae continues to have problems with his right leg, but somehow still somehow manages to make plays.
