and from everything I heard they will still play bigger name opponents, who bring a lot of fans, in the Superdome.

I read the article, which included the location, but still have no idea how in the hell they would fit a stadium in the area. Spent 7 years at Tulane. No way in hell there is room for what they are proposing without tearing down a few buildings. The old stadium area is now occupied by the Reilly Center, an intramural field, parking garage, and resident apartments.

Never gonna happen.

There's not enough room. They could just knock over Loyola's campus. In fact, that sounds like a plan.

Agree to split the gate 50/50 and it is a win/win. We get to have a good away game for alumni and exposure into the New Orleans area for recruiting. They get a bigger crowd and more money consistently.

wish we could alternate every year with memphis and home and tulane on the road then the next year switch. Cant beat an away game only 4 hours away from starkville with bourbon street, ricks, and a 2 story krystal. and a game you can drink beer at and never leave your seat.

I just don't see it. Relatively speaking, they would have to dedicate a large percentage of the campus for a football stadium. That is not even counting a parking area. The campus is too narrow to have a stadium of any size.

It would be kind of cool to watch a game in the Garden District.

On the other hand the Quarter is much more conveniently and safely located near the Dome. As long as you go down Poydras.

The Dome wins!

I'd like to see what kind of a crowd we would bring if we had a 1999 type team with all of the expectations and everything.

I'd like to play Tulane during a weekend series down there in baseball. They're a very good program, although I think that they are kind of going down now that Manieri has taken over La. They have a very nice stadium that is in the Garden District that they just renovated not too long ago. I know Ole Miss played them this year down there. It would be a fun series, and they would be a nice but manageable test for our team.

It's located farther Uptown. Nonetheless, a nice stadium with good atmosphere. Don't look for a series to happen anytime soon, though. Rick Jones (TU Baseball coach) despises John Cohen...thinks he's a really bad guy. If there's anything I've learned about Tulane, it's that Rick Jones gets what he wants. And he won't schedule MSU.

but I've seen the architects' plans and there is space for a 24k-28k stadium. The tennis courts will be demolished, and the side of the stadium on Ben Weiner Dr. will be much larger (taller w/ more seating) than the Audobon Dr. side of the stadium. The proposed stadium would horseshoe around the back side of the Riley Center. There definitely isn't space for a 40,000 seat stadium, but 25k when designed correctly is absolutely possible. It'll be a unique look, which will be fine for Tulane.

Parks needed to finish a certain class to have enough credits to transfer into Tulane. Jones believes Cohen 'advised' Parks to drop the course, therefore making his LOI void.

Robbie - I'll definitely be around for JazzFest. Going the first weekeend for sure. And yes, it calls...all the time. Let's do it.
