WSET reported a few weeks ago that Randy Hunsicker was named the new head coach and he's been on staff for awhile and served as o-coordinator last few years.

What makes you say they will be down? They put together a nice run in 3D last year until they faced Northside. I assumed continuity and continuing to build is why they hired from within.
Isn't the baseball team something like 10-2 with the two loses coming against highly ranked 5A Halifax?
2 things
1 - by "behind the scenes" I think he means that a MV assistant was awarded the job at first, then something happened and a Tunstall assistant got it.
2 - Tunstall can't easily be judged by their regular season Piedmont record. PD baseball hasn't been strong year over year in quite some time. I think the overall sentiment is that their talent is down somewhat as well.

i am a dan river alum and supporter, we've beat up on them the last couple of years, where they were the feared baseball team for a long time. tunstall does play hard but they lost the hardy boys, who was their everything. dont see them winning no more than 2 or 3 games.

Both programs will have growing pains but both Tunstall and DR hired from within. Both schools showed a commitment to continuity. Both schools brought in quality coaches to fill in their staffs. Both schools have excellent players coming back from last year's squads. Both schools have good young talent coming up from below. I look forward to watching this rivalry for years to come!
