Hey, it really is free, after the minimal one time cost of the antenna. Given you are in the Memphis Metro, you could get a heck of a lot of free stuff on one. It's minimal here, but still worth it even with just one spat.MmmK.

Yeah I know. I used to have one. It wasn’t anything special. Mostly just old tv shows.Hey, it really is free, after the minimal one time cost of the antenna. They have a culture problem, that spans well beyond coaching (because Sam Williams is a good coach, and so was Tyler Peterson). Something about that place. They generally just have more talent than most of the teams they face. When hit with any adversity, they seems to always lose. I still can't believe they won the baseball state title. Lot of parental involvement all the way around, which isn't always good.Brandon is just snake bit. Easily the best program in the state that has NEVER won a State Championship.
Now 0-4 in title games.
3A and 7A were obviously yesterday. What were the scores of the other finals? I couldn't find them anywhere.
What's the reasoning for their resurgence lately? I just noticed they won a title in 1992, I had forgotten about that.Tupelo is stacked and will be the favorites again in 7A next year. They didn’t play particularly well last night.
I was listening to the game on radio and the at the end the announcers commented that it's likely these same 2 teams meet again next year for the title due to their returning talent.Tupelo is stacked and will be the favorites again in 7A next year. They didn’t play particularly well last night.
Maybe they should hire Rich Rod.They have a culture problem, that spans well beyond coaching (because Sam Williams is a good coach, and so was Tyler Peterson). Something about that place. Even still, I'm betting they'll finally break through over the next 2 years. Their QB and RB are both 10th graders, and already getting D1 offers.
I would imagine demographics. I think a lot of the middle and upper middle class white folks that don't necessarily have the most athletic kids have moved up to Saltillo. Meanwhile, the black population has increased from 28% to 38% in Tupelo from 2000-2020 while the overall population increased by 10%. I would guess Shannon and Amory aren't the powerhouses they used to be and many of those families moved over to Tupelo. What's the reasoning for their resurgence lately? I just noticed they won a title in 1992, I had forgotten about that.
I'm wondering if Tupelo is going to be hurt by the move to Region 1. Something about going through the gauntlet that is Region 2 (the fifth place non-playoff team beat Brandon) has to make you ready to make a run in the playoffs. Going from playing Madison, Starkville, Germantown and Clinton to beating up on the DeSoto County schools may hurt them. Tupelo may win every region game next year by 28+ points.I was listening to the game on radio and the at the end the announcers commented that it's likely these same 2 teams meet again next year for the title due to their returning talent.
Nah, that was happening 20 years ago but now they just enroll them at TCPS if they don’t want their kids at Tupelo. I’ve been here almost 20 years and for the last ~10 I’ve known more people moving into Tupelo than moving out. The whole school has had a resurgence, I’d say thanks a lot to the administration and parents / community getting more involvedI would imagine demographics. Tupelo is the only 7A school where you can drive through the town and see blue and gold everywhere. Its something you see in 1A nd 2A small towns replicated at the 7A level.Nah, that was happening 20 years ago but now they just enroll them at TCPS if they don’t want their kids at Tupelo. Your second statement is probably correct though, getting more kids from that Verona / Shannon area. But the whole football & S&C program is huge here, starting in middle school. Think it was Kiffin that joked about the size of the 8th grade team a few years ago when they played Oxford
That's good to hear. Last time I went through Tupelo it was early 2021 and I was surprised at how busy the area was in general. And the fact that many people have stuck around when the public school originally started headed south, rather than bail to the suburbs (if you can really call them that in Tupelo), is a good sign. Tupelo is one of the only true MS-centered towns, besides the college towns, that seems to have a future and its own economy. By MS-centered I mean not Memphis suburbs and not towns that drive to Mobile, Birmingham or New Orleans to do most of their 'consumption' or whatever.Nah, that was happening 20 years ago but now they just enroll them at TCPS if they don’t want their kids at Tupelo. Didn’t help them their 2 top LBs were out most of 2nd half. But really even with those players, Tupelo was just the much better & more physical team overall. Brandon is a finesse team that likes to win 45-42 games. They’re not built to face a team like Tupelo.Tupelo's game plan completely wrecked Brandon's vibe. Tupelo TOP was the killer (the long TD drive after the punt block scoop and score). Brandon isn't built to handle the load that JJ Hill was.
JJ Hill has a LOT to do with it right now. That guy is GOOD.What's the reasoning for their resurgence lately? I just noticed they won a title in 1992, I had forgotten about that.
The population is something like 35k, but it's estimated there are 125K there during the work day. That's good to hear. He is certainly not the only one, but he is as good as I have ever seen in HS.JJ Hill is unreal, but from what I can see, they also have 8 other guys with D1 offers on this year’s team. Returning six of those.
