HATE HATE HATE that Phil Turner will now not be a proud MSU Graduate because of the events of last week.

A twitter was just sent out with a /www.wabg.com/SPORTS06302010_TURNER.htm"" target="_blank">link to WABG's website which reports
"FORMER MISSISSIPPI STATE BASKETBALL PLAYER PHIL TURNER VISITS DELTA STATE WEDNESDAY"

"HE HAS PLANS OF ALSO VISITING GEORGETOWN, ARKANSAS STATE, NORTHERN KENTUCKY, AND ARKANSAS TECH."

So...our staff wont take him back..but Kirby might... interesting.

Doesn't he have to sit out a year first, and he has already used his red-shirt year, correct?

GEORGETOWN, ARKANSAS STATE, NORTHERN KENTUCKY, AND ARKANSAS TECH

Also, you can't just take 4 classes somewhere and graduate. I know MSU makes you take at least your last 30 hours at MSU. Good luck paying out of state tuition after this year to Georgetown if you can't afford in state tuition to State.

Also, he'll have to transfer down to D2 to play immediately. So Georgetown is almost positively not an option for him.

if his scholly gets pulled from him...thats ********

Play somewhere 3-4 years, scholly gets pulled leaving you with no money for school...another school steps in to help you, but you have to sit a year?

if it's the one in Kentucky (best known as home of the Bengals training camp).

And isn't Arkansas Tech the Wonderboys?

the rules weren't set up for the players' benefit. They will both have to sit out a year.

he can't sit. he'll have to drop down a level to play at all.

Sad and strange. I'd love to know the whole story.

I won't take sides because I know that neither Turner or Stansbury are telling the whole truth. There were times last year where I could choke Stansbury for not putting Phil in the game and then there were times where it seemed like Phil was crossing the line as far as being disrespectful of the coach. Itwas not hard to see that the two did not get along well.

Stansbury has pretty much put it behind him and Phil needs to let it go too. Rick gave Turner a chance when no other major program would and even though it ended badly he needs just move on.

Most private schools just have one tuition rate. In and out of state tuition is reserved for the poor people who attend state schools.

If so, I think he can go anywhere and play immediately. I believe Roburt Sallie at Memphis is doing that. He graduated with 1 year of eligibility left and now he's transferring to play at Louisville, and will be able to play next season.

Agreed. A student athlete should be able to transfer to another school and play right away.

ESPECIALLY if they are forced out of a program or 'heavily suggested' by the staff that they transfer like Rimmer was.

The system is set up to basically take all power from the student athlete right when they sign that LOI in High School.

I love that 2 UK players only signed financial agreements. That, i hope, will become the new way for top players to sign with a team. It still allows them power at least thru high school.
