If it is a "given" that MSU wins the Egg bowl, do you guys want Ole Miss Football to (otherwise) be successful enough in 2011 to insure Nutt will be in Oxford for a few more years?

I dont care if its jump rope and hoola hoops, I want them to fail miserably in everything they do. That goes for acedemics as well. It does Mississippi State no good for them to be "competetive" in anything! It would be nice for them to have a little attitude adjustment as well...

If UM was playing Osama Bin Laden University, I'd be rootin' for the Fighting Jihadists.<div>
</div><div>Unless there's the slim chance that a UM win could help State out, I never root for them. I even have a hard time during my annual earthquake game (UM vs Alabama), because I am also programmed to root against Alabama. </div>

It helps our recruiting. Just think if they have a bad next 2-3 years, and we have a good 2-3 years.

They can't afford to fire him anyway. It would almost be a guaranteed lackluster hire if he did have to hire someone.

Heres to 0-12!

Improving is then sold to recruits as a program on the rise. Another terrible team for OM would be very detrimental to their recruiting and the only ploy they could use would be "immediate playing time."

Regardless of how bad they do, they aren't going to drop 6 mil to fire him unless they win one or two games. It will be MSU circa 2002 in which there is a house cleaning of coordinators and assistants, but Nutt would remain. Basically it's a non issue cause they wouldn't spend the money.

But I would love to keep seeing Mullen beat the hell out of Nutt. Hopefully they will keep Nutt for a few more years and continue to suck.

I don't care too much what they do, but my preference is always 0-12. If we suck, I start caring more about how much they suck.

1) My head (logic) tells me I want all of our opponents (OM included) to wins as many games as possible EXCEPT for when they play us...

2) My heart (hatred) tells me I would gleefully cackle at their mounting misfortunes, and I honestly don't know which one would be better...

I guess if option 1 landed us in the NC game then all the OM faithful would be dying a slow death on the inside, which would be far more satisfying in the long run.

Now let me be clear:

I dont base the success of our program in comparision to theirs- we have to take care of our own business and win games. Going 4-8 but beating them doesnt mean we had a good season- that would just be a nice gift at the end of a crappy season.

But if we have to depend on them to help us- it means we didnt take care of business ourselves, and nobody but ourselves to blame. I'm not going to root for them to help us when we should have taken care of it ourselves.

I NEVER want them to win at anything

if MSU was one spot away from being in say, the BCSCG, and an Ole Miss win could hypothetically punch that ticket, you wouldn't want Ole Miss to win....<div>

I want them to be horrible because
1) I don't believe they will fire him,
2) if they do the next hire will be made by Boone,
3) it will help our recruiting,
4) it could lead to them firing him after the next season (see #2)
5) it will bring me joy to see them do poorly.

My wife knows I pull for two teams every week: the Dogs and whoever plays TSUN.

As an aside, I believe it is time to start spelling the name of the town where their school is Oxfor again, because there is no D there.

...whether the University of Mississippi ever wins another game doesn't matter to me. I just want to see a 10 year span where Mississippi goes: 1) Without a winning season. 2) Without a bowl game of any kind. 3) Without being anywhere close in 10 consecutive Egg Bowls. 4) Finally gets caught paying off players and hammered for 5 years by the NCAA.

Other than that, I don't care how many games they win. I think 2-10, 3-9, and 4-8 would be fine with me, as long as they are 0-8 in the SEC for 10 years running. Heck, I am feeling magnanimous, let 'em beat BYU!

And don't give me that, "Oh I root for the State of Mississippi all other weekends ********." I heard this a lotduring my time in Vegas and I couldn't stand it.

This is OUR STATE, no one else's. No other school has relevance to me. If you hate a team, you HATE a team. No middle ground for me.

Still a Northern A-Hole,

no matter what, probably three, so I'm not worried about that.

I'm rooting for them to lose every SEC game. I halfheartedly root for them to win non-conference games because I think it makes the entire SEC look bad when we lose out of conference. That doesn't stop me from laughing my *** off when they do get beat though.

I never hoped we would lose to Mississippi so that Croom would be fired and I sure as hell don't hope to lose to Mississippi so that Nutt can stay.

At least not this year. Unless I am mistaken, if they try to fire him at the end of this year they will have to give him $6 million for the buyout and $2 million for not extending his contract. After next year they can just pay the $6 million but I don't see that happening either. Three years from now they can fire him for a measley $4 million. Still hurts but more in the range of possibility. They got completely !+$#%% by that contract negotiation.

after next it will be four...and if the situation dictates, he will be gone. That is how I've understood it.

They are hoping that he will do like at Arky..., Move on to the next place.

As long as we go 12-0. I don't hate Ole Miss, but I love ragging these rebel fans about their terrible athletics programs.

One thing y'all have to realize is that Houston Dale has the support and friendship of a lot of major boosters. They love Nutt. They hate Boone. It's that simple. Houston is going to really have to screw up for them to drop him. A lot of them are pretty wooly-eyed about next season. They believe that Mackey is a mini Cam Newton and will save their program. Oxford is a strange place to live right now.

Of the contract. Ole Miss has to extend Nutt's contract at the end of this year or they owe him $2 million. So if they fire him at the end of next year they owe him the $6 million plus the $2 million. If they don't fire him then they will have to extend him back out to 4 years so even after the next year it will still be $6 million. So after three years it will be down to $4 mil.
