You don't have to pay for the subscription. It comes with your YTTV. You just have to log into ESPN with your YTTV info when it asks. If you can download the YTTV app, then you can also download the ESPN app onto your tv.

I understand completely. I’m just telling you it doesn’t work for me for some reason on my tv. Even after signing in with YouTube login on the espn app. I got fed up and just payed the $11.99 and called it a day
I agree. I tried again today. Under settings, I am signed in with my YouTube tv account on the ESPN app. Whenever I try to play SEC network plus content I get “Unable to play Video” You are not authorized to view this content”That does not sound right, I'd be interested for you to try it again.

I just hate the fact there’s an entire SEC Network and two freaking alternates and you still have to use a streaming service. It’s not hard, it’s just annoying and stupid.
I tried that already and it wouldn't let me, even under the same ESPN account from my computer. I can only watch it "free" using my "TV subscriber" on the ESPN webpage on my phone, table or computer.
When I installed the ESPN app on the TV, then logged in and went to ESPN+ or SEC+, it never gave me the option to pick my TV provider, it just went straight to the subscription/order page.
And when I tried to airplay from my tablet/phone, it failed to play.
The problem for me isn't figuring it out, I have that down. It's that they keep changing it and making it more and more a pain in the *** to see anything. At some point we're all going to be paying per-channel more than we would have if we just kept DirecTV, Dish or cable because all of these things are branching off into individual channel streaming networks.
I don't pay for the SEC Network. I pay for YouTubeTV (essentially online cable) for around $82 a month with the 4K package. There is no extra fee for SECN or other conference networks.
And I have no access ON MY TV using YouTubeTV to SEC+ or ESPN+. They clearly say those channels are only available on the app.
But then I can log into ESPN on my phone, tablet and website on my laptop (connected to my dual monitors) and it gives me the option to select my TV provider and I can indeed watch all ESPN+ and SEC+ games right there. But this is not possible on my ESPN app on the TV itself, nor can I airplay/stream from my devices to the TV. There is something strange there to be honest, but I tried it on all three of my TVs and not one recognized my ESPN account and that I had already selected my TV provider.
You do pay for SECN because it's in your package lol. That's what we mean when we say if you pay for it, i.e. you get it through SOME SORT OF PROVIDER, then you get access to SECN+ through the ESPN app.
The ESPN app on the TV works the same as a phone/tablet, you need to log into your ESPN account and then your ESPN/SECN provider. You don't have some magical ESPN app that doesn't let you do this on your TV.
He/she is having the same issue I have. I can see all SEC+/ESPN+ games on my computer, phone or tablet. It never works on any of my TVs. I'm in Colorado so maybe there is some stupid regional restriction, although my YTTV gets me SECN, the usual ESPNs and some other conference networks.
I am a senior engineering manager in the private space industry who is very tech savvy, but I'm willing to admit I'm doing something incorrectly if someone else has a solution to the same problem.

I know that I have YouTubeTV and I've gone over to several different peoples' houses over the past few years, downloaded the ESPN app to their TVs, logged in using my YTTV account and watched these SEC+ games for no additional cost. I don't have ESPN+.
Already did this, exactly as you described. As soon as I hit a game that's on ESPN+ or SEC+ it took me to the subscription page stating I don't have authority / access and I had to subscribe.
The difference on my TV vs. the computer, phone or tablet is that after logging into ESPN app, it doesn't give me the same prompt to verify my TV provider (which is YTTV). It goes directly to the subscription page.
I'm not arguing with anyone here, just trying to help everyone and myself.
This is what gets me, young people grew up with computers so it is easy for them but us older people (I am 79) and it is learning something new for us. Some of you young people just don't understand how hard it is to learn something new. As you get older it takes more time to learn things. Laugh all you want but that is the way it is for some the older you get.
Not sure if this will help, but when I go to watch anything on the ESPN app on my TV, I go first into the settings and verify the TV provider first thing before I ever try to watch any games.
I do that because I don't use the app all that often and they make you re-verify every few weeks or so.
I'm wondering if his app needs to be updated, but I was trying to verify what TV/Device he is using to give more insight in how to check that.
A Samsung Q60 QLED TV (55") in the den. The basement theater room TV is a LG OLED65CXPUA 4K Ultra HD smart TV (65").
Our internet connection is Xfinity 1.4 gigabit per second and is very, very reliable.
TVs are hardwired using Cat8 ethernet (40 gbps) cable. Although I've tinkered with just wifi via our Deco whole house system, I prefer hardwiring as data-wise it's faster.
I've deleted the ESPN app, then reinstalled, logged back in and the same thing kept happening. Like Sejonesy, I just gave in and did the one month $11.99, then immediately cancelled so I have it through the month of November.
I just installed the app for the first time 10 days ago on both TVs. I never use the app directly on TV, I just go right to YTTV ESPN channels.
As said a bit ago, I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and still cannot get the prompt to verify my TV provider that I fully expected from the get go. I'll go down now and see if I can find the area for TV provider and make sure it's there (on the TV app...the computer webpage and device apps all show my provider as YTTV).
Confirmed that my TV app is the most recent version, I'm logged in and YTTV is showing as my TV provider. All of this was the same prior to being forced to subscribe on November 9th. Since I immediately cancelled, I have the paid subscription through 12/9, so I won't be able to tell if I paid $12 for nothing until Dec 10th (upon which time I won't care because there are no UK games on ESPN+/SEC+ after November).
I had ESPN+last year canceled and kept getting billed for 6 months bank called I called still got billed got my money back canceled credit card and got emails for four months that their was a problem with my card and they could not access and if not corrected they would cancell.lol
I have Spectrum. I login to the app. It knows I can watch the game for free because I have secN. But for reasons, the first tile visible on the screen has Ky vs Murray in big letters, and ESPN+ in itty bitty letters. If you select that tile it tells you to sign up for ESPN+. I know to back out and look around for the other SECN tile that's hidden of screen or only available through another menu. But they've obviously gotten a few people to sign up for extra costs that way.
I 100% believe there is some weasely MBA twit who was charged with increasing revenue 0.1% and this was their plan to do it. It's the kind of thing the FTC should be preventing. But if they did, 50% of the country would be talked in to yelling about socialism.
Is that Samsung running Tizen operating system? I have a Samsung 65' series 7000, and no issue. When you logged in did you use the QR code or manually enter username and password? Only thing I can see you might be doing differently, I used the QR code for reference, and then authorized it from my phone.
I'm not sure how that is really a problem. Some people might subscribe to just ESPN+, and then if they were shown the SECN+ tile first, by your logic that would be egregious too. Fact is, they have a search button, and it will clearly show you all available options.
I have logged in to the app. It knows I have an SECN account. It knows I do not have an ESPN+ account. It's a program. It should remove options that ESPN+ option for games I see for free. If someone attempts to buy a game they can see for free, it should prevent that.

I fail to see how searching for Kentucky and then clicking the SECN+ tile is "hard." Could they join the tiles and default to the one you subscribe to? Sure, but the current version isn't "hard" to figure out.

It’s misleading . Fraud . A scam . And yes if you want to see the game and subscribe you do pay twice since you could get it for free from your provider but ESPN has made it so difficult that a reasonable person would conclude if you want to c the game you need to subscribe to their service rather than assisting the customer on how to c it for free since they have already paid for it.
I can c some young guys sitting around the table saying how can we increase profits and make people subscribe to SEC + and ESPN + even though they already get it . We will just make it so difficult that rather than trying to figure it out the customer will buy our service out of frustration. If people subscribe when they can get it for free since they have already paid for it they are by definition paying twice . Do u work for ESPN ?
Haven’t read through the entire thread, but I have this problem from time to time on one of my Samsung TV’s.
Deleting the ESPN app, reinstalling, then logging back in with my YouTube TV account resolves it.
Don’t know if this is a Samsung issue or not, but I have other Samsung TV’s that I don’t experience the problem with, and a Sony with no issues.
And for any of you NBA fans contemplating on buying a Samsung TV, don’t if you have any intentions of purchasing NBA league pass and using the NBA app. Samsung doesn’t support this app. Although you could purchase through YouTube TV or add a Fire Stick, but it’s still sad that the NBA can’t be installed using the Samsung interface in 2024.
I have an LG Oled tv. When I go to the ESPN app on the tv, it doesn’t ask me for my tv provider, which happens to be YTTV also. It asks me to enter a code on my iPhone through the espn activate link. I do that and I’m able to see SEC plus on my tv.

There is a 3 day trial for free. Anyway, all TV do not have to be at the same address (IP Address) and can be in different households. I purchased today a 1 month for $20.00.

I just don't agree with you, I'm reasonable, and it was simple as hell to figure out.

The counter argument is who is too cheap to pay $50-$70 per month (for lots of channels and games) to watch a higher quality broadcast and would rather watch some shaky, not high-resolution game with poor audio and some guy talking over the commentary.
I figure we all fritter away too much money on a bunch of other dumb things to be worried about a little bit of cash during the season to watch our favorite team play.
