Interesting. I presume Arkansas will then get Missouri. Great for their travel budgets, not so much for SC and A&M. I wonder what the politics are here?

Arkansas is by far the closest SEC school to Missouri and they want to have an annual game with them. SC being a permanent opponent for Arkansas was just random so switching that over to A&M doesn't make much difference. Its a long trip either way. A&M going to Missouri permanently is also still a long way. Believe A&M to MO is around 750 miles while switching to SC makes is around 1030 miles.

<div class="scrolling"><div>And for A&M, it is about 300 miles further to USC than to Mizzou, but does it really matter that much if you're traveling 700 miles or 1,000?

BTW, I told everyone on this board back when it became clear the SEC was adding Mizzou that everyone would keep their current permanent opponents except USC would trade Ark for A&M, and Ark would add Mizzou. Of course back then, I was about the only one saying Mizzou would be in the East. Assuming these rumors are true, only thing remaining is to see if I was right about staying at 8 games when most everyone was saying the SEC had to go to 9. </div></div>

but adding 300 miles is about a 5 hour difference for driving. If I'm making a drive of that distance then I don't want it to be just for one sporting event. I'm just looking at this from my perspective. I haven't put anytime to researching the distances between SEC schools, but if we had to travel over a 1000 miles every year I would maybe make plans for that trip a couple of times in my lifetime to watch a game
