Brad Logan tweeted something that looked official, but upon further review, it may just be projections. My apologies.

Well, the one thing we know is that whoever said that is just guessing. I doubt there's a security leak in the selection committee.

Brad Logan also tweeted a Colorado radio station said Dan Mullen was headed to Colorado. Not the most unbiased accurate source there.

ULL is national seed paired with Oxford regional.

Dammit.

While it is likely just a projection at this point, I would love this because I'd like to take on ULL, it is close, and it likely gets paired with LSU and I'd love another shot at those jerks.

This was the tweet I was referring to:

Ole Miss is matched up with ULL....Miss State wins ULL regional....MSU stands in the way of Omaha and Ole Miss...can you say capacity crowd?

I want no part of any SEC team at this point. We've played OM 4 times this year already... LSU 3 times. My nightmare scenario is OM beats us to go to Omaha for the first time in 4 decades. That would sting...

Or pretty dang sweet to go back at their expense

I want no part of that gamble, honestly. Especially after some dipshits put that freakin sign on I55 last year. I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun as hell, nor am I saying it wouldn't be epic as hell if we did manage to beat them in Oxford to go back to Omaha... but I want no part of it. If we lose, we will absolutely never hear the end of it.

If we're in a national seed regional and win it, does the host of the regional we're matched up automatically host super or would we have a claim at super too?

We would not host if the 1 seed opposite our regional wins. The 1 seed across from us would have to lose and if evenly seeded teams win both regionals, I believe it goes to committee to decide who hosts the super regional (see 2007... Clemson was a 2 seed, as were we).

Yea, I saw the host sites. I just thought people were leaking destinations and pairings early, so I figured I'd jump on posting it. Turns out it was projections.

plus they are the better team. we may be 2-2, but with all the chips on the table, they almost swept us in starkville. i would much rather have some other team put them out of their misery like usual. one thing is for sure, we arent clutch, so im not sure why we would want to test that again. in different circumstances with better hitting, bring em on, but we would be underdogs in this matchup.

Yep. I will say we are playing better baseball at this point in the season and I do believe they are not quite as sharp as they were when they visited in April. I think we would have enough pitching to go through 3 games... but I have zero faith our hitting will be able to sustain us in a rematch. And just like you pointed out, they will have plenty of motivation to play their absolute best if they see our bus rolling up.

It would be a fun matchup... but one I hope to avoid.

I say bring em on.

Ross had a really bad game against them. I think he can and would do better if given an opportunity.

Laster has held OM in check this year already. Remember in the rubber game on Sunday, we were very unsettled since brown was injured.

I think we're a better team than we showed OM the first time. I don't think OM is any better although they were the better team then. The gap has closed...

I already said pitching is not the problem. The problem is we cannot hit worth a damn with runners on base.

How 17ing sweet would it be if their 2 seed beat them, and we beat ULL? Then they sit at home while MSU hosts a Super Regional with a chance to go to OMaha.

If I could draw up the perfect scenario, this would happen

If the #1 seed won the regional we were matched up with, they would automatically host. If one of the other 3 teams won it, we could bid to host, and most likely would.

Most important thing to me is not getting anywhere near LSU.

They are en fuego right now. I'd rather play a super in oxford and have a fighting chance, than get our heads kicked in by LSU again.

I'd be down for that, as well. The fates and the baseball gods have this together already, but my nightmare scenario is having to play those bastards in Oxford for the chance to go to Omaha and they beat us to go for the first time in 40 years. They can beat anyone else as far as I care... I just do not want it to be us.

From a fan's perspective, I understand what you are saying. I believe Clemson suffering this fate against S. Carolina not only at the regional level, but at the CWS, too, in recent years.

If we played OM in the post-season, it'd be good to have continued attention to our program, regardless of the outcome.

yep, and that has been fairly consistent throughout the year. we did hit much better in 3 of the 4 sec tourney games, but im not sure we can repeat that. i think the truth is that this team is a couple of hitters away from being really good and that will ultimately be our undoing. i hope i get proven wrong, cause i dont want to be right. its hard to string a bunch of singles together and when we arent even hitting singles, we cant expect everyone to walk in runs especially at the regional or super level.

Don't want any of Ole Miss, and not ashamed of it.

They are better than us and would be at home. NO THANKY.
