Can't wait to hear these two kids lies on how it wasn't intentional. You know it's coming.

Listening to the radio this morning...... The opinion was that he made a racist comment to the players and that justified their actions.....

Admittedly it was an African American based radio station... (I like differing viewpoints)

You cannot make that s...t up..

The incident involved local area teams San Antonio John Jay and Marble Falls. Last I heard, an investigation is in progress.

Aw yes, the race card. That is always the go-to for when someone is violent.

You remember when that UNC player claimed Brittain Johnson from Utah called him the N word during the final four and then had to admit he lied just like Marcus Smart lied two years ago when he claimed someone called him that.

People play that card because it's apparently the only one they have. "Let's see, what can I say so I won't face consequences for an unprovoked attack on someone else? Oh, I know. I'll claim he's racist."

I find it alarming how often this is pulled.

From the video, I believe they're Hispanic.

I hadn't seen the video until just now. I'm speechless. Obviously they should be expelled from school, and prosecuted for assault. To make an example for every other player in the country, the rest of the season for their team should be forfeited. Cannot allow this to happen.

Do you really think that you should punish the whole team for the action of these two FWC?
No. Unless this was instructed by the coaches, the only two that should be suspended are the two involved. If it comes out that they planned this on their own, you punish just these two. Don't make the whole team have to suffer for these two idiots.

So much overreaction. We let murderers and rapists have a 2nd chance. One player blindsides a ref to the ground and we want to expel him from the game of football permanently and punish the whole team? Really?

Suspend for one game, if for nothing else, blindsiding someone can be very dangerous. But jesus, this isn't THAT big of a deal. And hey, there's a silver lining! Some of these officials should be dropped a few pegs anyways. I'm always glad to see a group of infallible people realize "Hey, maybe we need to start doing our job better.."

A one game suspension? Seriously?

High school athletics is about teaching life lessons. The lesson here is that sportsmanship matters. I'll reduce the sentence to forfeiting the next non-district game for the team.

Blind sided hit to the referee. Both students have been suspended from school while investigation continues.

about 85% of what I said, yes. Several people here want them banned from the sport for life? Really? Sorry, This isn't as big of a deal that SOME are making it out to be. UNLESS, this was a "code red" type deal that came down from coaches. As it stands now, kids were mad about a bad call and took it into their own hands. Blindsiding someone IS serious, so that part I understand.. but they didn't kill anyone. It was a one time thing, you can't just ban them from the entire sport lmfao.

If he were to hit him twice are we talking solitary or death penalty?

Mainly being a dick, but jeez, some people just want to rave and rant it seems.

Real simple. They don't deserve to play football anymore. Don't deprive them of school or the ability to get their education. But any privilege of football playing has been revoked. Gone. Adios.

I believe it was retaliation for two of their teammates getting kicked out of the game earlier.

Nope. Nope. I think it's pretty obvious the ref was racist. Just look at him. He's white. That's an open and shut case of racism by the white boogeyman.

I knew a minor league baseball player that got a lifetime ban for shoving an umpire to the ground. And we are talking about a guys living, his career that was over in a blink of an eye. So yes, all sports take that sh*t seriously. No touching the refs. Zero tolerance. Otherwise, it would encourage players AND coaches from taking pot shots at the refs all the time.

always playing the race card

These kids deserve whatever punishment they receive. I wouldn't let them play football at my school ever again. That ref could have been seriously injured. You lead with the helmet in a game against another player you are ejected. What these 2 did was cowardly.

The players are playing the race card. No surprise. On the bright side, at least they have learned something.

Until I can actually read that somewhere and not someone who 'heard it' I'll keep the lynchmob at bay
They are.

SAN ANTONIO -- Officials with a San Antonio school district say two football players accused of ramming into a referee during a high school game allege the referee directed racial slurs at them.
