1. What is it going to take to actually get a good crowd at games? I'm certainly not expecting a friday night crowd around 8k at this point, but we have a decent record right now and the weather was good tonight.<div>
</div><div>2. If anyone had any doubts whether the new bats will help or hurt, it was removed tonight. Those 17ers dominated the warning track.</div>

I've been to most of the games this year and wasn't expecting a huge crowd, but we have had better crowds at some midweek games this year. That is sad.

And you're damn right about the bats. They would have knocked several out if the game had been played at Auburn. Sheperd needs to go back to CF. There were one or two balls that were hits that Sheperd could have gotten to.

We need a big crowd and the weather should be nice. There's no reason why we shouldn't have 8000 there, but I know we won't because our fans suck.

of promoting the games. Dan is all the time talking about how we have to have our fans at games. I haven't heard Cohen say anything about that ever. Scott also could send out e-mails to BC members. A billboard? I'm sure a lot of people listen to Jim- I haven't heard him say anything on the radio about "you should really come out and support this team". Those are all very simple things to do- and some of them don't cost a whole lot of money.

Yet again, I'll beat the deadhorse, but I think a lot of people don't go because they think that they aren't going to get to sit in the grandstand until the fifth inning or whatever it is. And that's because you have those season ticket holders that just buy and don't ever show up unless it's a regional.

If the team keeps winning, they will show up as well. We haven't done that since 2007. If we happen to get ranked at some point in time, I think that will help.

They also really need to promote the Dugout Club as well.

I know money talks and if someone is willing to buy the seats, that usually doesn't mean much, but I really think athletics should push attendance at the games instead of just selling seats. I mean they may lose some money, but I think long term, that would pay off dividends. Instead of those seats going to people who only show up for a handful of games a year, sell them to people willing to come to games. I don't know... just a thought. It's irritating sitting out in the bleachers until the 5th and looking at a mostly empty grandstand.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to have season tickets and NOT go. They're basically throwing hundreds of dollars down the toilet- even if it does go to the athletic dept. Why would you buy something like that and not use it? Just so you can get first pick in the event that we go to a regional? Again, they should use the BC priority system for that as well.

Surely, there aren't 4000 people that are just getting tickets out of snetiment because their deceased grandfather wanted them to have them.

I agree. It should be the 5th. If you're not there by the 5th inning, you probably aren't going to make it.

but that still doesn't negate the fact that we have 5,000 chairback seats in a very nice grandstand and only 1,000 or so in them. And it's like that every game. You don't see that kind of thing at LSU or even Ole Miss. Those seats are filled to the brim every game.

and a travesty. If you're one of those people that buy season tickets and never go, you're terrible.

I agree that attendance has been BAD, but that was probably one of, if not biggest, crowds so far this year. Sad I know. Like some have said can't really be too surprised by the bad attendance.

Well, I recall Ron Polk saying the big home crowds made his boys nervous or something to that effect. I guess John Cohen will have to say that is no longer the case any more. Then again, maybe Polkie was right. Winning is what is needed to bring back the big crowds.

and redesigning the system to where you have to have a "points minimum" to apply would help tremendously. They could easily track how often you go to games and what kind of games you attend. If you go to volleyball or softball games, chances are, you will go to baseball games. <div>
</div><div>Or, simply extend the grandstand to the bullpens and do away with the restricted access to the grandstand. Shirley, people sitting in other people's seats isn't that big of a problem since I only remember a few games where the grandstand was anywhere near full. </div>

You plan to use it eventually.
Take me for instance. One very young kid and another coming next week, and we're 2.5 hours away. Bought the tickets when they came open because they were arguably the best seats in the stadium and I couldn't pass it up. I'd been on the chairback waiting list for a few years, and the addition of a PSL is probably what gave me the opening.

Now, I make the rare game. Sometimes I can sell my tickets or put a butt in the seats, but often I can't. I've successfully sold the whole season for half the seats once. This year, some of the offers I got were downright insulting, so I passed on them.
5 or 6 years from now, I'll be at quite a few more games, one or both kids in tow.

Actually weather may be nice early in the day but look for some really strong storms tomorrow night..Meteorologist here btw from our great meteorology program at MSU...Anyway a warm and unstable airmass will lead to possibly some strong storms with hail (could be quarter size to larger...the NWS in Jackson says there are chances for golfball size hail!) and lightning and strong winds and chances for tornadoes..If our winds our southwesterly tomorrow, I'd say our tornado threat is low but if they begin to be more from the south or southeast our tornado threat will go up alot. This scenario is different from the last few severe weather events because there is actually a lot of instability to work with...So weather may be nice but the 6-10 pm time frame could be very rough and the game could get cancelled if its that late...I'm a grad student in meteorology, work with the NWS in Jackson as the SCEP meteorologist and graduated in May of this past year and got my meteorology degree..Just a background so you know I'm not blowing smoke lol...

me and others went... it was winning...

I think winning alone will awaken the Sleeping Giant... better marketing will just be the icing on the cake...

let people sit in the grandstand from the beginning and if someone with season tickets shows up, the ticket holder tells them they have to move to another seat.

The season ticket holders have contracts guaranteeing them the seats as long as they buy tickets. This isn't like the basketball deal a few years ago. rugbdawg is right. All they could really do would be to move up the time they let people move to the grandstand without a ticket. After the 2nd sounds about right.

One more reason to just build a new stadium from scratch instead of spend for major renovations at the one we have now. When the time comes though. Football has to be #1 and basketball needs to be #2.</p>
