"What I'm excited for, our spring practices are going to be open to the public and the fans come out and watch, I want to make sure we put on show and have a great spring game for the fans of this state."

Practices will be open? Is that true?

and

"The first time I heard about it (the MSU opening) I was walking by Jeremy (Foley) after the Championship Game and he said hey, Mississippi State may would like to talk to you. I said OK, that sounds great, then I ran in the locker room and was giving people hugs! I don't think that sunk in until Sunday where Megan and I said hey, let's get on the computer and if they ever do want to talk to me let's make sure I know a little bit about the school and the recruits...."

He wanted the job, bad. That makes me feel good.

One other thing I liked was that he mentioned juco players more than once. Apparently, the first 3 years actually do count towards your win/loss record.....

to go along with the open policy for spring practices remark, he also said (at least in Tupelo) was that he'd be disappointed if the stadium wasn't full for the spring game. Unlike the past regime, I'm glad to hear Mullen put an emphasis on the spring game. And who knows, maybe there will be a point scored this year.

Now filling it may be a stretch, but with a vested marketing push (unveiling new uni's) I can see 25-30K if the stars align correctly.

With Cohen leading the baseball team and having a new football coach that actually puts an emphasis on the spring game, we might go over 30k, especially if we bring in a good recruiting class. I know most of the new recruits won't be here for the spring, but there will definitely be alot of excitement.

...is a friend of Jeremy Foley. As soon as the Head Coach position opened up, I called Floyd and asked him to talk to Foley about Dan Mullen. Floyd was very excited about Mullen and said he would. I asked him to tell Foley to call Greg if Mullen was interested. I don't know if he ever did, but I'd like to think he did. I am NOT claiming we had anything to do with Mullen's selection.

Interestingly, Floyd also is a personal friend of John Brantley's father. Brantley was a Top 5 QB recruit and currently backs up Tebow. Before John Brantley was coming out of high school, I suggested Floyd talk to Mr. Brantley and see if John was interested in coming to Mississippi State. He did, and Mr. Brantley said he thought John would possibly be interested and asked to have our coaching staff contact him. Floyd then called our coaching staff and talked to one of our coaches, and was told, "we aren't interested in him." Brantley was one of very few 5 star QB's in the country.

True story.

Our old staff didn't even go to probably half the schools in the state. It was refreshing hearing Coach Mullen talk about his coaches visiting every high school and Juco in MS. I think we had only a couple of good recruiters on Croom's staff.

and lots more will come out as time goes by. He wasn`t let go just because he didn`t win enough games in 08 .08 was just the icing on a big old turd cake.</p>
