after the 45-0 beating in Oxford, did anyone anticipate we could have moved the football program to the position it's currently in so quickly?

If you would've told me after the absolute 17ing gang rape with no lube, that was the 2008 Egg Bowl (and pretty much the entire Croom era) that we would hire a new coach, and within two years he would have us sitting at 8-4, playing in a New Year's Day Bowl against Michigan, and be favored to win; I would have laughed in your 17ing face.

Mullen has done a great job so far and I am really excited about the future of state football for the first time in a long time.

I remember that embarrassing day and the wayI felt. I have never been so upset, but when the game was over I have never been so happy. I was watching ESPN and I saw where CC had stepped down and Dan was hired. I also kinda veiw that day as one of the best days for MSU in a long time.

All I really anticipated was that we would get a better coach, and I trusted Byrne to make a great hire. I was really encouraged that he went after Petersen at Boise because that showed me that we were serious about hiring someone good.

I was a little worried when they were talking about Kevin Wilson getting our job because I had a bad feeling about him for some reason.

When we hired Dan, I was pretty happy. I really liked his history with QB's and I felt like he was a solid playcaller as an OC for Florida for the most part. But when you hire a coach, you never really know what you're going to get, but I was pretty encouraged by Dan being hired.

I liked his personality- I remember he was taking questions from fans at his press conference in Jackson and someone asked him if we would have a kicker that could make a 20 yard field goal. Dan's response- Well, I hope we don't have to kick field goals because we're scoring touchdowns all the time.

On one hand, he was a bad kicker. But a lot of people view him as the guy that got rid of Croom. And he also had the game winning field goal in the 2007 Egg Bowl.

I called this ****. No, in all seriousness after that game I questioned wether I would go to another M-State football game ever again. It was that bad. I suffered through that whole damn game with an Ole Miss buddy. Without question the worst day of my life. Not even a close 2nd.
