that Stanford was an anomaly. He has stripped UW of everything and will leave them worse off than MSU will be left when Croom is gone. Seattle has always had good talent, there is no reason why UW and WSU have a combined 1 win over a 1-AA team.

but rumors on local sports radio even before today's resignation were that he would take the UW job if offered.

Willingham didn't want to have to face the prior team he left in shambles. The Irish.

1. He says he did not resign. Says "it's just not in my makeup." He says this was not his decision.

2. Ty was apparantly DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY....never knew that....

"We didn't win enough football games. That's it," Willingham said. "Hopefully, we've done all the other things right, (and) it's a good strong program for someone to jump into and do things."

...explain Ty Willingham. Won a PAC 10 title with Stanford, starts out 8-0 at Notre Dame, and then falls off the face of the Earth. What's the deal? Can't recruit? Bad assistants? What? I don't understand how you can be great for a while and then just lose it.

He was never great, or even good.

He destroyed two - not one, but two - national football powers in Notre Dame and Washington. That takes some doing.

The Pac-10 sucked balls when he was successful at Stanford - this was right before USC got their act together. He also compiled several ****** seasons, and left absolutely nothing behind when he went to ND. They went 2-9 the first year he was gone.

He won at ND with Bob Davie's players in 2002, then promptly went 5-7 the very next year.

In other words, all hype, no substance.

werl wahd leader sets this skinnier version of incroompetence in front of us to wax eloquent on the finer points of coaching the game? Maybe he and Davie can be paired together.

But if you can't recruit at ND,... you've got serious problems.

Bowden did the same thing at Auburn.

Not to mention Ballard at MSU.

None of the ganja stuff here...I just need to not work 100 hour weeks and miss a full weekend of football. Missed everything this past week...incl that fact.
