The Pac-10 sucked balls when he was successful at Stanford - this was right before USC got their act together. He also compiled several ****** seasons, and left absolutely nothing behind when he went to ND. They went 2-9 the first year he was gone.
He won at ND with Bob Davie's players in 2002, then promptly went 5-7 the very next year.
In other words, all hype, no substance.
