While I know that there are multiple rumors posted on this board every hour this is nothing but a few FACTS
1. Monday- Offensive coordinator from Alabama was in Meridian and had a long talk with Russel. From what I gathered from the conversations that I heard it went really well, they apparently have made promises such as "you will be my guy by year 2" and "with your arm we can get you on the national spotlight in no time"
2. Tuesday- QB coach from Alabama was in Meridian at the Russel house and spent about 2 1/2 hours there talking to Russel about numerous things.
3. The head coach from Meridian told a very reliable source of mine that he has concerns with Mullens offense and so does Russel. Russel is skeptical of Mullens offense with him in it because of the fact that Mullen has always had a run type QB...which Russel is not
4. Russel has told my source face-to-face that he is happy that State got a big time offensive minded coach but he is going to have to listen to what Mullen has to say about his presence in the new offense. Russel is aware that he can not run the ball and that he is a pure pocket passer.
5. Russel, Patterson, and Bumphis have apparently formed some kind of "pact" to where they have apparently (not 100%) said that they will and want to play together in the next level . Russel and Patterson have been hanging out and some of my people have said that they have seen Russel and Patterson together in Phily
With all this being said I for one am very very very happy with the new coach that we just hired. I hope that Mullen will look at Russel and see what potential he has. Keep in mind that while Mullen was at BG his qb was mobile...while at Utah Alex Smith was very mobile and his offense was made to taylor his attributes...Chris Leaks numbers fell his 3rd year (Mullens arrival) because they (staff) tried to make Leak a dual threat qb
I think this is a great day for bulldog nation and we should all be very proud of our school and the accomplishment we just achieved...I just knew a few people were wondering about some of our prospects and knew that I could spread a little light on the situation.
