I don't believe Comcast is ever going to get it together. They also say that ESPN U will not be available on Comcast, what are the chances that State is going to play football on ESPN U this fall. I might just have to break down and go with Direct TV.

She told me that they had tried to negotiate with ESPN and that they could not reach an agreement that would not require Comcast Customers to pay extra for ESPN U.

I told her that I would gladly pay an extra couple of bucks per month to get ESPN U, especially with the SEC's new contract with ESPN. She said that most customers were already outraged at having to pay extra money for the NFL Network and the Comcast Sports Tier and that unless something changed that she was unaware of, ESPNU would not be available on Comcast in the near future.

Looks like it is satellite time, but with all of the HD TVs and DVRs in my house, that is going to be ridiculously expensive compared to Comcast.

So, you either have to pick DirecTV with access to ESPNU, which will likely carry a lot of SEC football games this fall under the new contract. Or you have to pick Comcast with access to a lot more SEC baseball games every week. And you can't get both. Something needs to be done there.

I wonder if it would be possible to change providers twice each year. Pick up Comcast for the spring months and switch back to DirecTV in the summer to get ready for the fall months.

check out dish network. you can use one HD receiver for two rooms. you can use one HD DVR receiver for two rooms, and both can use the same DVR, but one room only gets SD (not HD). cutting down the lease fee for extra receivers helps out with the price.

plus, with comcast, you're paying about 15 bucks per DVR, right? i think it's only 7 with dish network. comcast will probably also give you a great deal when you call to say you're switching to satellite.

I am a little worried that this might be the only major drawback I can think of with the ESPN media deal. Fox Sports, Sports South, and CSS seemed to all air an SEC series later in the season this year, and a just don't see ESPN matching the coverage for baseball.

but my guess is that baseball will see little, if any, change in its broadcasts. Regular season baseball is just not worth it to ESPN for air time on any of its outlets.

not bashing just sayin

it just seems like we have an inordinate amount of threads about how to set the VCR lately. i think most of it stems from the question I asked yesterday, why in the hell do the people trying to SELL us something make is so 17ing difficult to understand how in the hell to set it up and what is available if we do set it up?

by the way.... try getting AT&T internet service without having an AT&T home phone service. their systems fall appart when all you have is an account number. it would take the cust. service person 10 minutes just to find the screen with my information on it.
