I realize you can't really compare his situation to Shayfuh mainly because of the state of the two programs, but there are alot of similarities. And you hate to judge Newton with the Shayfuh deal in the background. But....
Both programs had alot of momentum, mainly from recruiting, going into the next season. Both teams were "down" from fan expectation but full of hope with new coaches, both with a year under their belt. Both teams had no QB and annointed a JUCO as the savior, granted Auburn is doing it more discreetly. And Newton didn't jerk them around about when he'd enroll.
So Auburn's going about the process better, but if Newton gets that high and mighty attitude like Shayfuh, watch for problems on the plains. No competition for a spot seems to do that - especially at the most important position on the field.

And what if Newton's just not as good as advertised?
