Is there any reason Ray couldn't put him on scholarship for this semester?

This was the first game I've been to and I was somewhat impressed (considering he's a walkon). He's averaging 20 minutes per game and we have plenty of scholarships. Just seems like it would be the appropriate reward. Or would he have to stay on scholarship next year too?

He's good enough....

to be a scholarship basketball player at a lower level school.

Hell no. Look at Tyson. With all do respect, he wears a bow tie. He played the tuba his senior year of high school. He belongs to one of those super secret academic fraternities. He has never paid for college.

How does all that add up to a full ride?

He is being paid to go to MSU because he can take a toilet roll, a paper clip and a car battery and build a wood chipper*. He is a nerd. Dude is smart. He did not come here to play basketball. Dont waste it. We need it.

But my point is we don't need it this year. We've had a ton of guys on scholarship play less than him over the years. I'm just saying reward the guy with a scholarship for this one semester if its possible. If he's as smart as you say, then it should boost the academic rating of the basketball team.

I don't know -- maybe he'd have to stay on scholarship next year if we gave him one. In that case I can understand not doing it.
