Tyson Lee was 20-26 in Saturday's scrimmage. Disscuss.

that's what a QB's scrimmage stats are SUPPOSED to look like. I'm not turning cartwheels over it because it is a scrimmage, but at the same time, it shows me that maybe we're starting to do some things right. And that's very encouraging.

I wonder if we had a QB in the last few years complete 20 of 26 in passing drills with no DB's?

the difference is that they aren't crooms's check-downs. rather, they are plays drawn up to get the ball in the hands of quick shifty WR/RBs who can hopefully beat one man and make a big play. i expect lots of bubble screens and swing passes.

out to the RB who would gain 4 yards. You can't develop a passing attack with that. I am fine with a 4 yard pass as long as it turns into 15.

football player the other day and asked about the QB 'controversy'..

He said there wasn't one and Tyson was the guy. Said Relf was gonna be a situational guy, but Tyson was going to be the starter.

short passes which turned into big gains by playmakers. It was how his offense was designed.

All I'm saying is the people who might complain about Lee 'only' completing short passes should expect more of the same from Russell if he sees the field. I didn't see a huge arm some people are expecting.

Russell was going to play alot and play early. We had to start Russell this year because that is what was best for the program.

Yes, Meridian ran a spread system that involved a lot of short passes, but what made them dominant was that Tyler Russell would then throw the deep ball when the defense walked up. Go back and watch his video, it's quite a nice mix.

passes to as long as he's completing them. If they're 4 yards then so be it..

I dont see us pushing the ball down the field very much honestly. I highly doubt we're hitting Wilder over the middle for 20+ yard gains.

i hope to see us throw enough screens and quick passes that late in the game, we can pump fake the screen and the entire D will bite, leaving wilder by himself behind the safeties for an easy TD. like bama used to do with milons and the satellite formation.

i fully expect us to run certain plays to set up later plays, which we haven't seen since, well, i don't remember.</p>

that Lee completed almost 60% of his passes last year. Statistically speaking, he did a great job.

Lots of QB's have done well with the short passes. Eli won at UM with them--he rarely threw passes any over 20 yards. Heck, he won a Super Bowl doing that. We were SUPPOSED to do that too with the WCO, but we gave away too many downs on drive-killing unsuccesful runs up the middle.

Is that legal at MSU? Is that "doing things the right way"?

So what are your over/under numbers for games before Mullen exceeds Croom's career point total? It's the wooliest time of the year!

Not only did Tyson have a 60% completion percentage but he averaged 10 yards a completion. All this while running one of the worst offenses these eyes have seen, or should we say worst coaches offenses!

backup secondary thats not saying much cause our starting secondary sucks other than Charles Mitchell.

I think we are still gonna run the ball alot more than people expect. It will just be out of the shotgun on reads instead of Ace or I form.

because if he completes 3 out of 4 he's gaining 12 yards, which moves the chains...I'll take that all day long.

I'll bet we run out of the Ace more than you think we will
