I was a little upset at how everyone attacked Lee this season on being a bad quarterback, when last year he was our savior. Sure he had problems, he was short, couldnt run the option well, but i think he did a damn good job despite his weaknesses. We ran plays that helped lee see the field better and our line couldnt block for him. I kept seeing the offensive line miss cut blocks that would cause lees passes to be knocked down at the line, our tackles couldnt keep up with the D Ends, and our guards would miss the blitzing LBs when Lee would leave the pocket. Relf was disciplined by the team for a non-released issue and had to sit out a game, Mullen obviously didnt trust him in game some of this season, so he gave the job to Lee. Lee had good games, and when he did we won or came close to winning. Lee could play quarterback, thats why he was on the field and everyone that doesnt like him is watching from the sidelines. I even cussed out another fan during the Florida game for saying how much he hates Mullen and the team for playing Lee. He gave us 110% and left everything on the field despite his problems. Thank you Lee.

Who the hell said he was MSU's savior on here? Funny how someone will bash an entire message board for being hard on lee when he was the human turnover machine and then talk the O line down. who was responsible for negative yardage for most of the Arkansas game again?

He couldn't help that he was too short and not strong enough to play QB in the SEC. I hate Croom for us having to play Tyson. He never should have stepped on a Division I field unless it was in mop up duty on Senior Day. And that horrible line he was behind was the 10th best rushing offense in the country with a QB that could do nothing but throw 10 yards downfield.

Sure he was good for a 5'8" or maybe 5'9" guy but he still wasn't good for helping MSU win games. Isn't that the point? This isn't little league where being a nice guy and hard worker gets you playing time. Its all about winning.

Coming off a Liberty Bowl win with Wesley Carroll at QB, our wonderful Coach Croom decides to go with Tyson Lee who leads us to a 4-8 record in 2008. Wow! Amazing post Ford Ranger!

...and then this year, 14 interceptions to 4 touchdown passes...and if he would have played the whole game against Mississippi, let's just say we wouldn't have that Golden Egg that we are all so happy about right now. He was a total liability to our team this year.

It really tees me off to hear all these people try to defend Lee's ability and/or him in general. I'm sure he is a great guy and all, and I'm sure he was giving it all, but he never was a Division I QB. Let's not throw off on the O-line and try to blame others for Tyson's lack of ability and skills. I thought the O-line looked much improved this year, and I got really tired of seeing Tyson make them look much worse than they should have by not having the ability to get out of the pocket and get the ball out quickly. Let's throw our whole O-line under the bus instead of stating the real reason that Tyson couldn't perform. He was too small, did not have a good enough arm, and was a liability to the team this year. With an average QB, we are more than likely bowl eligible this year (see LSU and Houston games).

Our savior last year? So because of him we won 4 games last year? I like my saviors packed with a few more miracles than that. And our O line was the most improved unit on the field this year. Did you see last year's Egg Bowl or the other games last year where our O line was dominated? As already mentioned, we were #10 in the nation in rushing this year...10th in the nation! And you probably won't like hearing this but Lee's decision making cost us the LSU game this year. Hey..I like Lee. He is a solid young man with outstanding leadership qualities and has an extremely bright future ahead of him. And he did play hard. But he just should have never been put in this position.

I understand what he wanted to say.

He wanted to say the personal attacks on Lee are ridiculous.

The guy walked on to a school he loved and competed despite his shortcomings. People should respect that.

If you guys had better, they would have been out there.

To question Lee is to question Mullen. He made the decision to go with what he thought was his best option.

...Here's a simple, common sense question: How do you keep your short QB from getting all his balls batted down at the line of scrimmage?

Simple, common sense answer: You coach your short QB to pump fake his passes. That way the DL can not perfectly time their jumps.

MSU was one pump faked pass away from beating LSU this season.

As much as Lee got his passes knocked down by linemen that were a foot taller than him, I kept wondering why Mullen never coached Lee to pump fake his passes.

That was a coaching error on Mullen's part. And, as mentioned, it cost State at least one game.
