They're calling Varnado a "cross between a volcano and tornado!" There's also a thread with all the Chuck Norris ****, except Varnado's name has replaced Norris'. Chuck will not be happy.

Anyway, glad they are having fun today...Swat might whip dat *** on Thu.

that Varnado won't be getting rebounds if he's blocking shots, but they aren't taking into account that V has the ability to come down with the blocked shot, Bill Russell-style. Plus, Turner gets a ton of rebounds for a dude that's 6'3".

I would like to remind them that if JV is blocking a shot, then there is no rebound to be had...but I really don't want to start a bunch of **** with them.

Of course it's all in fun. But my insertion here was really to bring down the Vanardo is Superman thread that may feed a guy's ego. I mean, come on, we've played tougher defenders. I don't want to give a guy the idea he's some fearsome gamechanger. If he was, maybe that 13 seed would have been different by removing an entire digit. He seems a good player, and he's had an effect on teams with high RPIs. But this will be different. The Huskies' quickness and athleticism will get him into foul trouble.

I think that these guys will be a tiny bit surprised

even if a shot is blocked there IS a rebound that is credited to the player who comes down with the ball (or team if the ball is blocked out of bounds)

its quickness and athleticism. Everything else--maybe not so much.

They're just blowing off JV like he's just another slightly above average shot blocker. Hell, he's led the nation in blocked shots for two years...and will likely break Shaq-freaking-O'Neil's shot blocking record next year. They are in for a hell of a surprise courtesy of Swat.

I am really wanting to see Varnado swat them out of the building. He is overdue for one of those ridiculous block party games of 9 blocks. Thats what happens to a team that doesn't plan for him.

than something like 325 Div. I teams this year. And there are only 330-340 teams out there. Here's another stat for you. MSU is 2nd in the nation with 7.6 blocks per game. The PAC-10 leader is Southern Cal at 36th with 4.7 blocks per game. I think it's fairly safe to say those guys haven't seen a shot blocker anything near like Varnado all season.

I recently moved to Tupelo, Mississippi from Seattle and let me tell you I hate their fans. They are the meanest, rudest, most arrogant people I have EVER come across, yet they have so little to brag about! It's pathetic. You'd think with the way they ring their cowbells (seriously. They ring cowbells. How redneck is that?) that they had some kind of tradition or something to be proud of. NOPE! I attended a few Mississippi State University football games this season, and let me tell you, if we had played them we would have been 1-11! They are an absolute embarrassment to their fine football conference. And when I say fine I mean they are all cheating!!!!

Anyway, I got a little off track - I really HATE those fans, plus they are completely in love with Oregon...YUCK!!! But I have followed Husky sports ever since I moved down here and am SO GLAD to finally get the chance to shut these guys up. Our key to victory is just being physical with Jarvis "Junior Varsity" Varnado. He is too weak to fight back! He is also a punk. I have seen him take many, many cheap shots at opposing players but SEC officials are the worst in the world and they let him get away with everything!

So, assuming we get a fair shake from the officials, we will win this one easily. They have no business being in this tournament and we need to show them that!!! GO HUSKIES!!! </div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

When their star 6'7" 255 lb forward is guarded by a 6'3" 170 lb guard who gives him all he can handle?

Bet that one looks sweet to them on paper.

Go Phil!

Doesn't he lead the nation in blocked shots? Wouldn't that make him the <span style="font-style: italic;">toughest</span> defender?
