U of L BOT appointment same good ole boy crap

I agree we need to get rid of the the whole board and bring Louisville people in or we will remain a cluster f%@k. Take a page from the sUcK play book and bring people in who actually support the program.
It looks like they decided on it behind closed doors and then took a quick vote on him. This makes the situation look even worse, like you said good old boy politics. All Louisville fans should keep a close watch on this.
Current decision makers at the University show they cannot get out of their own way and that is why U of L is in the condition it finds itself.
The governor doesn’t just wake up one day and appoint whomever whenever he feels like it. Potential trustees volunteer for the position. There is an application process. The governor then selects the best candidate. If Benz is it, it means the other candidates were either garbage or non existent.
I know you don't really believe what you wrote? Have you not been paying any attention to this university's practices that last few years. This school could be used as student thesis on bad politics 101!

It’s funny all these people talking about how bad Ramsey and Jurich were. Think we are better off now than what we were when they were here, I don’t get that.
I think the point is the Governor is not appointing people in the best interest of Louisville. There is background story about Benz and it is questionable as to why the governor appointed him. I asked this before and nobody responded. How come sUcK’s BOT is made up of all but one sUcK alumni and Louisville only has 1 or 2 Louisville alumn on their BOT?
Eligible UofL alums aren’t applying and/or not qualified. Or they don’t donate enough to whatever governor is in office.
Dr. Larry Benz is a former UL BOT Chair 9/5/15. Was Chair while both Dr. Ramsey, and TJ were still in place. He had a great relationship with both. He was one of several members removed, by fromer Gov. Bevin in his illegal disbanding of the entire BOT. He appointment should be viewed as very positive IMO. We now have at least 4 BOT members, that I feel can push UL forward.
Some of you do not know all the facts, and players. Should wait before popping off on what you know about Dr. Benz. With him back on the BOT, I feel confident we will get a Top Level, AD, and President. UL was doing pretty good the last time, I looked and he was the BOR Chair. Just sayin!

Not much of a thesis. Didn't include the state auditor's specific findings--just an allegation smear job--nor the fact that U of L dropped its suit against Doc Ramsey having recovered 1% of what they were after. And that 1% was collected from their insurance company, NOT Doc himself who paid zero.
Another U of L and State of KY fiasco, which they're getting pretty good at...
I would have felt better about his appointment if wasn’t done the way it was done. So we have 13 members on the BOT and 4 are Louisville alumnus that is really sad to me. When I look at other Universities it seems they have more alumni on their boards. It is hard for me think we don’t have qualified graduates that could serve in the best interest of the university and its fan base. After all we have been around since the 1700’s it’s not like we’re the new kid on the block.

Benz is a Solid Appointment. He supported UL's last upward movement and will do so again. I did not say we only had 4 UL Grads. Benz is not a UL Grad, but he is solid UL. His undergrad is from Baylor. I said I count 4 votes on the BOT that are solid. I did not count the Student BOT member, or the Faculty BOT member. One would hope those two, could also be counted on, to get things going in the right direction. We certainly DO NOT have now, what we had when Dave Grissom was Chair. Which was a BOT committed to UL, being the Stepchild of the University of Kentucky, Higher Ed System. They had votes to move it that way, and they did!! That was the way that bunch was headed IMO!
I didn’t say you said they only had 4 Louisville alumni on the board. I was the one that said they only have 4 Louisville alumni on the board. Which is pitiful considering most of the P5 schools are loaded with their alumni who support their athletic programs.
Garbage report, you believe everything you read on the internet?? Most of this non-sense, and inuedo, as previously reported. State Auditor found no wrongdoing, and no actionable laws broken. Simply one person's opinion is all this is!
Plus, it's beating a dead horse. Everything has been resolved, folks have moved on. But, UK fans hanging on to the past is what they do best.

Totally agree with everything you say about Benz. He is a UL first guy and will do everything possible to help get us back to a level we can be proud of. What still worries me is the fact that anyone in the position of Governor of Kentucky has the power to do what Bevin did to us when we were kicking Kentucky’s butt in everything but marksmanship with long rifles.
