Pretty surprised UCLA is running away with this game.

Their defense sucks but I guess they are legit. Really thought they would lose this game.

Does anyone actually believe that Arizona is the 4th best team in the country? Good team, but ehh..

UCLA is my pick to win the whole damn thing. They are deep everywhere. Do you want to get into a shooting contest with this team?

Arizona went 1-2 vs UCLA & Oregon and their best non-con win is Michigan State with loses to Butler and Gonzaga.....yeah unless they win out they aren't getting a #2. As an aside WTF is Butler's deal? They have beaten Nova twice and Arizona and have loses to: Indiana State, St. Johns, & Georgetown.

You all realize the only other ranked team UCLA has beaten is UK........still not sold, they don't play D and have played nobody and have gotten beaten by almost all the ranked teams in the PAC 12. If they had lost this, they would have gotten swept by both Zona and ORegon....that is not a resume of a FF or Championship team.

This is an outstanding post and I didn't realize Arizona's schedule until you mentioned it. They have exactly one 25 win- at UCLA. They don't deserve a two seed.

For a state and fan base that thinks you are knowledgeable, you don't know crap."If they had lost this"...no they didn't lose this. "They would have been swept by Zona and Oregon". You must be drunk. They split with both teams.

Changed my tune with UCLA. Originally thought they were out in round of 32, but now believe they will go to the Final Four as long as they stay away from Gonzaga & Nova. Their offensive execution is so good. Skilled big men combined with great perimeter shooting & point guard play will overcome their defensive liabilities in most cases.

Arizona is a 2nd round casualty most likely.

So the PAC 12 seeding would be:

1. Oregon
2. Arizona
3. UCLA

Round three will prob be for a 2 seed.

Just dropping by...I come in peace ;)
UCLA's D or lack of it is pretty well known but it has been getting better.

Nonetheless here are some numbers that are within UCLA's grasp in spite of their D. Rebounds UCLA-35, zona-25...
shots on basket(fga and fta) UCLA-80 zona 70, TO's UCLA-8 zona-10...and UCLA shot well below their average against a good defensive team @zona. The biggest difference between this UCLA team and the one you faced in December is that the D is better but the rebounding is a whole lot better. The last,,,I'd say about 7 or 8 games Welsh has been on the boards like he is possessed. UCLA is getting around 10-14% more boards than before

I agree. Offense is what wins in the Tourney not defense. This is where I wish Cal would change his tune. He recruits athletes that can play D but not enough shooters to offset an off night in the tourney.

This is exactly backwards. It is defense that inoculates you against a bad shooting night. Shooting, particularly three point shooting, is subject to a pretty big standard deviation.

Recently, I don't think so. Maybe in the old days where you were allowed to play defense without being called for a foul on every play. Look at last year with Villanova and UNC and the year before with Duke and Wisconsin. None of those teams play much D but they could put points up in bunches.

Going back to 2010, no team outside the top 15 in defensive efficiency has won the championship. The team most statistically similar to this UCLA team is the Duke team that was bounced by Mercer.

However, their defense has improved quite a bit recently. The 2015 Duke team was not a good defensive team until very late in the season.

Yes but stats can be misleading sometimes. I know we are highly ranked on D this year but look with your own eyes and say to yourself are we good or are the reams we are playing terrible? Probably the latter. Gonzaga has smoked their opponents this year but is it because they are great or is their competition subpar?

Since 2002 the lowest D team to win was UNC in 2009, #21 (by two tenths of a point). Besides that, Uconn 11 and FL 07 both #15 were the lowest
