UConn looks fantastic. S.Carolina looks ok. Speed kills, and the pace from Geno's group is out of this world. Halftime it is UConn 36-26. Would love to be in the Staley locker room. Game is on Chanel 7, and on ESPN with Bird/Taurasi doing the game, horrible, and so biased with Lobo on 7.

First time in my life I ever rooted for Geno and UConn.
What made you do that? I wanted S.Carolina, but after the half I found myself rooting for UConn. Those kids were not arrogant or in your face. They were so happy it was contagious.
Well Geno has mellowed over the last few years. For any of the long time posters on here you know I have had a hate/hate relationship with that man.

Not a Gino fan, but this Championship I was rooting for UConn and him.
Don't ask me why, just felt right to do so.
Game was not close so towards the end just jumped back and forth between channels until at the very end .
Glad I stayed because the emotions between Geno and Paige was very heartwarming and the way UConn reacted with each other was a great sight.
That said, Dawn was the essence of class after the loss in her actions towards the UConn players
making me hope she has more championship games in her career and wins most of them ( unless Rutgers is involved)
Glad I watched the end of game and the victory celebration

Geno across us like a dick, but actually is a gentleman

After we won the Big East regular season championship and I believe 2006 or 2007, I stayed after the game at the rac for about an hour and was able to meet him coming out of the locker room, and had a candid 10 minute conversation with him

Super nice guy, down to earth, humble, not Braggadocious, which is the complete opposite of how you would think he can do himself in real life based on his actions on the court

The UConn women's basketball program is the best college sports team with 12 national championships. This game just showed the UConn superior offensive fire power with 3 elite scorers and two will return next season.South Carolina has a terrific team which was easily defeated by UConn twice this season. Geno needs to retire to give other teams a better chance to win a national championship.

Geno has a well-known history of being a total jacka$$ off the court. I am disappointed in the outcome of the game and that UConn won another championship. At least it has been nine years, so we had a bit of a break from his hubris. Perhaps that is why he mellowed a bit--he had stopped winning championships and even missed a Final Four or two, IIRC.

It was the first UConn championship in nine years. At least five(?) other schools have won since UConn last won. I would also like to see him retire so he would go away, and we wouldn't have to be subjected to the abject fawning from ESPN and other sport media that is likely to go into high gear again.

His mellowed because he’s older, and he realizes that at best, he’s got 30 more years on this earth

Regardless, he embraces the villain roll, and as someone who has always rooted for the bad guys, I like that about him

With all the respect to Pat Summit, Tennessee wasn’t exactly playing by the rules all those years, so when she called out Gino during the Maya Moore recruitment, he didn’t back down, stood his ground, and eventually overtook Tennessee as a preeminent program and women’s college basketball

Similar to Kevin Boyle and Bob Hurley Senior would go ahead to head, and Hurley was illegally Recruiting and then got mad when St. Patrick’s decided to do the same

Even though I always wrote it for Saint Anne’s because of Hurley, Boyle was giving him a taste of his own medicine, and he didn’t like it

I’m not particularly fond of the man, but I have an immense amount of respect for him that he did not back down to the legend

"Geno needs to retire to give other teams a better chance to win a national championship."
No, he needs to move on from UConn and find a program that will challenge his greatness
Come on down to New Brunswick Geno , we have that challenge waiting for you 😁

From your mouth to God’s ears, I would love to have Geno as the coach here
