UH game time, maybe

Hi all. Unsurprisingly, we're pretty excited over here after our big win against OSU. It's been a long, LONG time in the darkness for us. Hopefully, we won't puke all over ourselves when Texas Tech comes into Robertson on September 26.

Sorry to see the Auburn result. I think that's more of an affirmation of Gus Malzahn's scheme than an indictment of your defense. I promise you that Auburn's gonna hang half-a-hundred on several other teams this year.

At any rate, I was doing some further poking around on the game time for UH-MSU, and ended up e-mailing a UT beat writer for the Chattanooga paper.

Turns out that October 10 is a CBS doubleheader (Alabama-Ole Miss at 2:30, Florida/LSU at 7). Because of CBS' broadcast exclusivity window, the writer thinks that all the other SEC games that week, including ours, will start at 11:30 am.

See this link, which is why I e-mailed the guy in the first place:

If that is true, and my flight into Jackson lands at 8:55 am, how screwed am I? How long will it take to get to Starkville from there?

Good luck this weekend against Vandy.

Then, factor in that it is homecoming and you have to get your bags, you will probably be in your seats at the middle or end of the 1st quarter.

I would count on about 2 hours, 15 min. Hope you just have a carry on. With your schedule you could walk right up at the kickoff or be just a few minutes late. Maybe DS can entertain you at the 6 pack tailgate postgame since your won't get the pre-game flavor.

Houston may be our allotted Pay Per View game, which would start at 6 p.m. But if we have an 11:30 kickoff, you won't make it to Starkville for kickoff.

once in a while you can get a bargain into there and it`s only thirty minutes from campus.

OK, I don't get this. Fellow fans come on here asking for directions to Auburn and what channel the game comes on and they get their heads bit off. This guy comes on here strokin' us like we still need the pats on our heads when Croom was our coach and askin' questions he can get off google maps and everyone goes down on him. weird.

Gotta keep up the internet cred man, it's not cool to help out a fellow fan on such common knowledge. We're above that.

then he can change his itinerary and only pay the difference in fare - no penalty. i would definitely recommend changing to the late friday flight.

i'm going for a weekend in october for 49 each way to houston. when i was at state, you could fly for 35 each way from jackson - 29 if you caught the deal. it was ridiculous.

Just take the Natchez Trace Parkway and floor it. No cops at all on that highway.
That's funny! Also make the drive in a rented U-Haul truck.

Take 475 north a couple of miles to 25, then north on 25 all the way to Starkville. Speed limit is 65. As long as you keep it under 75, you shouldn't get a ticket. Highway Patrol will be out so I wouldn't go faster than that. If your plane lands on time, you have only carryon luggage, and you can get a quick rental car pickup you should get there very close to kickoff. Whatever you do, don't take the advice of the poster who advised you to take the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Of course, as others have mentioned, the safer route would be to switch to a late Friday flight and get a hotel on Hwy 25 (Lakeland Dr.) in Jackson.
