College football work in cycles, gentlemen. Alabama, Arkansas and State are coming back to mid-late 90s form and LSU is headed south. Auburn and Ole Miss are mid-cycle of being average. Auburn headed up, Ole Miss headed down.

If you're comparing cycles, then our cycle most resembles where we were in 1998, coming off 3 straight losing seasons (94-96) and probation to go to back to back bowl games.

Auburn made a mistake in firing Tuberville, and as soon as Malzahn takes another job, they may find things more difficult. LSU is still winning, but I could see them going into flux if Miles has a weak season and they are forced to change coaches. However, that window is going to be short lived. First off, Bama is still strong and will be until Saban leaves.

If Saban were to leave, you might have a 3 or 4 year period in there where the window is open for the bottom half of the West (Ole Miss, MSU, Arkansas), but that window won't be long.

he's bringing in Frank Wilson. He's the closest thing to a AAU street agent that HS football has ever seen.</p>

The odd thing about the Wilson hire to me is that his sweet spot for recruiting is New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Hiring someone at LSU to strengthen your New Orleans recruiting seems a little bit like killing a fly with a grenade to me. Why do you need that? I'd be more focused on hiring a guy that may have connections in Texas or something like that.

Everything Less does is odd. Partly because he is goofy as hell. Party because he's in way over his head at LSU.

I expect him to lure Special Ed any day now to really help put a fence around the home state.

Then it will turn into another 3 page thread of everyone saying the exact same thing as has been said countless other times. Maybe its just me, but it seems Coach34 is responsible for more recycled threads than anyone else on here. Every one of his LSU/Miles and Stansbury threads seem to be cut right from the same cookie-cutter template, and they always evolve into the same arguments with many of the same posters chiming in. The Stansbury threads long ago became unreadable, and the LSU/Miles threads will be soon.
