I think he just didn't want to throw Ralph under the bus. It was already obvious on tv the difference in the team. No reason at all to say "yeah Ralph sucked so we benched his sorry ***".

Plus, he plays everything close to the vest on personnel issues. At least he's not liike Croom...throwing players under the bus in post-game interviews.
