What a horrible matchup.

You guys might get a shutout without making any tackles. Our offense is that bad!

You guys are averaging about 16/game and we are giving up 43. I would bet the house that you guys will put up 35+ this week (New Mexico State did that in the first half alone against us). Been Watching UK football a long time and this is by far the worst defensive team I have ever seen.

When I watch teams rush against us I envision our defense as the British holding the line in Zulu Dawn...

That is the $64,000 question. It will be interesting to find out on Saturday.

If this defense is the worst you have ever seen, you must have missed the Mike Major years.

I have watched some of each South Carolina game, they do look pretty average most of the time.If I were in Stoops' situation I would try to take the run away from them to the best extent I could, make the QB beat us if he can.Put 7 or 8 in the box and attack the line and fill the gaps

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa now. That's coaching. You don't expect our coaches to coach now do you ?

I wish our offense looked pretty average. That would mean our O-line makes SOME blocks.

I would kill to look average on defense.

If South Carolina just gives us a heavy dose of read option with McIlwain, I'm not sure how we stop that.

Yeah,me too,if we could come into a game with the plan of doing one thing well and make the other team uncomfortable in one aspect of the game.In this case put pressure on their offensive line we might be able to make enough plays to give us a shot at this one

There is as much riding on this game as there has ever been for Stoops and the team, let's not kid ourselves the season and maybe his job depend on the outcome

Hardly, Been watching since the late 70's early 80's. Majors' defenses during the mumme years were not as bad as we have now, they were at least capable of stopping inferior opponents. Can you imagine what a Spurrier led Florida team would do to this team. For all the big Scores superior opponents (namely TN and Florida) rolled up against us Majors teams still average giving up only around 32/game during his four year tenure. We are giving up 43 and have not even hit the hard part of our schedule yet.:flushed:

I expect SCAR's QB, a true freshman, to have the best game of his young career. He's a pretty highly rated dual threat, the type of QB UK acts like they've never seen before. UK gave up rushing yards to SM and NM ST's pedestrian QBs, McIlwain will run them ragged I'm afraid.

Let me get this straight...you are asking who wins between the #123 ranked total offense (288 YPG) vs the #122 ranked total defense (528 YPG allowed)?

This match up is a pillow fight and will be won by whichever coach slips a heavy object into their pillowcase.

Peace

Good point. Major's defense was all about getting the ball back to the offense. It was a risky defense that worked well when facing bad teams, but was exposed against good offenses. With Mumme as HC, it synchronized well with his offense-first philosophy. To paraphrase Walter Sobchak, say what you will about Major's defense but at least it was an ethos. Stoops defensive scheme borders on being counterproductive: building around big cover corners only to hide them in zone coverages. Give Major this team's secondary and he'd do a better job.

We'll give up at least 30. I expect at least one TD to be a pass to a WR completely uncovered, followed quickly by two DBs looking at each other dumfounded that the other one didn't cover that guy. Running attack will continuously gash us. Not because USC's offense is that good but we are just that bad.

Unfortunately, I think they're D is more than capable of holding us to about 20 points so I expect a 10+ point loss on Saturday. I will be there, though, all the way from Houston. Promises to be painful.

Well your QB will walk away feeling like Joe Montana. And if your backup gets in he would look like a hybrid of Peyton Manning and Cam Newton. For our sake we are praying that your starter doesn't go down

Uh...what?

We are on pace to give up about 2000 more yards than Major's worst year. Oh - the easy part of our schedule is behind us now.

I'll trade this year's entire Front 7 for Major's #17... Jeff Snedegar

I don't get the analogy.

The British DID(with superior weaponry) hold the line against overwhelming numbers

Did you watch the movie? Post was in reference to the overwhelming attack...

We all know UK doesnt have superior weaponry on our defense...
