I'm a UK fan and I'll admit there were bad calls. A lot of fouls on both sides that weren't called and should have and others that were called and shouldn't have been. Too many for me to sit here and recount all of them. I'll give you two of them - the blocking foul against Patterson late in the game. The announcers said it could have went either way, but I felt it was a charge. And the Wall block/goal tend. With that said though, your fans CANNOT act like that on national T.V. I don't think a lot of you have any ideal how poor this made your university look. With the racist phone calls & text messaging to Cousins, the colorful language in some of the chanting, and the debacle with people throwing several bottles onto the floor, you did nothing but show to a national audience that you're wanting to take over the title of trashiest campus from West Virginia. I would be upset if the shoe were on the other foot and those two bad calls I mentioned went against my team, but that doesn't justify the behavior you've shown. Not cool at all and makes the SEC look bad by propagating the racist redneck stereotype that's already pinned on us.

You are making too many assumptions.

You do not know that he got a racist text from a State fan.
1. Let's see the text. I don't trust Cousins. Maybe he likes attention.
2. All people in the 662 area code aren't State fans.
3. If so, give up the numbers and see if they can be traced.

We get it. You won. We're all redneck trash. Kentucky is some sort of bastion of class and civilization. Move on.

Seriously, it was 2 17-ing plastic cups. 1 empty. 1 filled. No, it's not right and I wish it wouldn't have happened. But, the basketball world will go on tomorrow. We'll have a black eye for a day or two as long as Sports Center talks about it, then everyone will forget in due time. I couldn't really care less about a few UK fan's opinion of MSU - not that we were highly regarded by them in the first place. Nobody likes Kentucky basketball fans except other Kentucky basketball fans anyhow.

and your players taunted them all the way into the tunnel. They were just following the example of your coach, who was yacking at opposing fans during the game. And do you honestly think players' phone numbers don't get "out" pretty damn often? It was only a story because Cousins wanted it to be a story.

I'm not saying it comes anywhere close to "justifying" our fans' behavior, but as a UK fan, you have absolutely no idea what it's like to have the refs decide a game that your season depends on. But I guess if it makes you feel better, keep lecturing opposing fanbases about class while your AAU all-stars and proven cheater of a coach have the red carpet rolled out for them until Selection Sunday. Meanwhile, our latest AAU star will be in street clothes while we scratch and claw.

Give me a break.

I went 3 years ago, and was wearing a white MSU polo, kept to myself, and only clapped when State did something good (I did not have that gosh damn blood curdeling scream one of your patron saints madeevery timeMSU went to shoot a FT), I was polite of those around me and kept to myself. I have never been treated so rudely or taunted, called slurs about being from Mississippi, and so. It did not make national television, but you sir have nopedestalto stand on and preach from. You won, and what we did was outembarrassing, but the way your coach acted on the bench during the game and how he let his team leave the court, you sir are no better than us.

Called it stupid (which it was), but didnt act like it was the biggest crime against humanity. They pretty much said that both sides fueled the flames for this game before, during and after.

there was ONE filled bottle that ALMOST hit one of the refs. Nothing like West Virginia though.
On another note, how underhanded was that comment about our fans from Calipari? He was at first complimenting us but then went on and on about this fan behind him. Made him sound like a gremlin or something. Ridiculous game all the way around.

I'm sorry but it could be a double standard to release wall but not release sidney. wasn't it just a few years ago when reggie bush had a mansion for his family while in college? A little frustration ventilation, which is often common with bulldog athletics, but seriously an explanation would be appreciated. I look forward to responses

i'm not excusing this behavior but lets just look at a few things people have ignored for a while:<div>
</div><div>1. state fans have gotten away with the chants for a while. its not like this is the first time we have chanted any of the things we chanted tonight, be it football, basketball or whatever.</div><div>
</div><div>2. we throw things regardless of the situation. the bourbon showers have been a state staple for a while now.</div><div>
</div><div>3. you put the students in 30 degree weather for 6 hours, then call a bad game with ten fouls since state went up by 7? what does anybody expect a cranky group of kids to do, they're going to be upset and feel robbed.</div><div>
</div><div>4. you have a guy who is taunting said fans all night and don't stop him at any point.</div><div>
</div><div>5. you throw in some of the worst calls this season</div><div>
</div><div>what in the world does the league, pat forde, greg byrne or anyone else expect. its a perfect storm of long term issues and short term causes. thats how bad things happen. the administration needs to re-evaluate how it handles things with the student section, i won't say we're mistreated, but you have to look at the obvious causes.</div>

Exactly. All this talk about racist texts and messages with not ONE example that it really happened. Seriously, He hasn't showed anyone a racist text or let anyone listen to a racist voicemail has he? However I'm not surprised that everyone just jumped on the wagon and believed it since it supposedly came from MS.

Do these douche nozzles not remember how they cried and moaned all during Tubby Smith's and Gillespie's tenure? That is all they did was whine and cry. Now they hire a proven cheater at UMass and Memphis to compensate and they have the nerve to call MState fans sore losers? That's rich right there.

That fan behind Calipari sounds like a hell of a state fan...

Someone give him a few water bottles - he's close enough to do some serious damage...

So you think it's more plausible that Cousins was making it up for attention, or that it was someone other than State fans in the 662 area code even though the texts from the 662 area code didn't start showing up until the days right before the MSU-UK game?

It's okay to admit that you have a small segment of your fanbase that act like knuckle draggers. Every fanbase has them.

ETA: I'll use your logic and say that it's possible Michael Hudec was planted at Ole Miss just to say those things he said on that Youtube video this past fall. It's possible he's not even really an Ole Miss fan, and he's going to our school for the sole purpose of trying to make us look bad. That's just about as plausible as what you suggest.

Idiots are everywhere. MSU isn't immune to them.

when your rival considers racism to be a part of their tradition.

It's not much of a stretch to assume some umiss fans were involved.

Maybe not all of the messages, but some.

Michael Hudec is proud because he thinks his beliefs are representative of umiss. And he's right.
