LOOKS like some stiff competition there...wowOne would think he might compete for the starting job if he comes here...or could Stoops even consider using two qb's??? Situation may be interesting next year.

One would think. Have to wonder how barker would take that? Better be recruiting another backup in case barker bails when he loses the starting job, or we"ll still be an injury away from disaster, no matter how good this guy is...also have to wonder how the young players who are "Barker guys" would feel about this. Not that i disagree with bringin the best possible guys in at all...just afraid of the affects this might have on a team coming out of a season that was defined by a team divide, which was likely spurred by an internal qb controversy...oh UK football...wonder how much Gran may have to do with thos offer?Would come here to start is my guess. 2 years to play 2.
He is a 2 star and he is already going to cause Barker to transfer? One would think. Have to wonder how barker would take that? Frankly, if hes not good enough to compete for the starting job, then hes not good enough to be our backup...either barker should be worried or we made an epic fail by offering. He is a 2 star and he is already going to cause Barker to transfer?
Who are the others that have offered tells you a lot...Frankly, if hes not good enough to compete for the starting job, then hes not good enough to be our backup...either barker should be worried or we made an epic fail by offering.
You should watch his film.Who are the others that have offered tells you a lot...
Or Barker has the tools and big time potential, but this guy is serviceable in case something happens and at this point in the game, someone serviceable is better than nothing in case Barker goes down.Frankly, if hes not good enough to compete for the starting job, then hes not good enough to be our backup...either barker should be worried or we made an epic fail by offering.
Not always about the offer sheet...see Memphis qbWho are the others that have offered tells you a lot...
Well see. I saw nothing from Barker that tells me hes gonna be great. Hope im wrong but im suspect as to whether h es ready to take over.Or Barker has the tools and big time potential, but this guy is serviceable in case something happens and at this point in the game, someone serviceable is better than nothing in case Barker goes down.
So coaches haven't watched his film? I don't go by stars I go by who else has heYou should watch his film.
Agree with your argument. I might not have included Regie Meant among great players who proved the evaluators wrong. Hopefully, he become a player who does.AJ Stamps' only offer was UK according to Rivals. Garrett Johnson didn't have a stellar offer list. Melvin Lewis had a poor offer list. Toth had a horrible offer list (Has earned SEC accolades). Regie Meant, Cobb, and a plethora of other great players for us started out as two stars or some other crappy rating.
I thought we'd learned to sometimes trust coaches and not rely solely on ratings and offers as measures of ability. Some players don't go to camps or get a lot of exposure. Stoops and Co have proven to be capable of finding talent where others don't. Let's let them figure stuff out.

Could this possibly mean that we should trust "the evaluations of our recruiters" other than those of others, or the lack of offers from others? Whose to say that others would have made offers to Stephens had they not had commitments from other choices? I like the way our coaches have recruited and I believe that Gran and Hinshaw know what they are doing. Go Cats!!AJ Stamps' only offer was UK according to Rivals. He appears to have the things you said but he also appears to be slower afoot, less durable and have a less strong armBarkers not going anywhere regardless of who we bring in.
I'm also curious how anyone could know how good Barker will be considering both his starts were in terrible throwing conditions.
He's already shown me he has better pocket presence, more accurate thrower, and has a quicker release than Towles ever did. Those are the intangibles that are hard to teach and things that Towles struggled with which has held him back from being the QB he could be.
