Uk is pretty strict about usages of thier likeness. Not sure why KSR should get a pass to use it without permission.
no, UK is not. Go to any restaurant, bar, hotel, apparel store...they all display and use the UK logo

why don't you come out of your safe place snow flake.Matt should be careful. He's starting to sound like a heartbroken conservative that has been ostracized by Twitter.
KSR has been guilty of daring to criticize John Calipari's coaching.Wow, I wonder what Matt did to piss if UK and Mitch?
Greenwood High School in Bowling Green uses pretty much the same logo.It doesn't take much difference to get by copyright laws with logos. It only needs a slight change and it's no longer the UK logo.

Edit: They should put a checkerboard in the middle instead of solid blue. Or they could use my avatar, the color fade and skewed edges are different enough for the laws.
This is pretty basic and common stuff. There are licensing agreements, sponsorships etc. that need to be protected. Every program does this.
Bishop Gorman from Las Vegas does too.Greenwood High School in Bowling Green uses pretty much the same logo.
Makes perfect sense.I am not in the legal profession but I have been told this by many people that are. The way that IP property works in the courts is that you defend your IP against everyone or you effectively lose the right to enforce it against anyone. In other words if a charity is using Mickey Mouse to help feed the poor then Disney has to sue them as if they are a rival company improperly using it. They can't choose to let it go in some cases. That may be why UK is doing this. If KSR is improperly using UK's IP then UK's hands are tied. They have to take action no matter who it is.
Yes, I thought it was awful and very uncomfortable with Matt, Drew and Ryan calling Cal a Liar on Air! I would never say that about a “friend” of mine!interesting to note, and I could be wrong on this but....
didn't KSR sell their website to Barstool Sports?
and after that happened, I think you noticed a definite change in tone as it comes to support for Cal.
Stories from writers imploring Cal to stop lying, questioning his coaching decisions, substitution patterns, his post game comments - I mean, basically everything I do here, but I didn't build my brand on being UK's lapdog, and launch a book writing, restaurant owning, radio show career from it, then sell out to an unbiased 3rd party.
My wife wishes I did, but none the less I did not.
So maybe UK is like screw you KSR, you used to suck up to us but now that you've got a little cash in your pocket, you call it like you see it, and we don't like it.
just my observation.
It's about the almighty dollar. Just give them their take and will be well.
Far be it for me to point out a hissy by Matt Jones and he be wrong but it’s likely some corporate decision at the JMI level, not UK (Mitch, Cal or anybody else) plus, while Matt is philosophically correct in saying this is stupid by UK and JMI, from a business standpoint it’s absolutely the correct call. Let’s say they let KSR slide on this but stop Buffalo Wild Wings or some other local restaurant. Those restaurants would have a legitimate gripe. JMI spent a lot of money to own the UK name, to distribute it as they see fit. Is it right, that people like Matt Jones are able to profit off the use just because he’s simultaneously promoting it at the same time? UK or JMI makes no profit share off the promotion at KSRbar.
I also can’t believe the lawyer in Matt doesn’t see the liability issue here. Let’s say someone comes to one of his promoted UK games at KSR bar. Gets drunk, drive and smacks into and injures a person. Later comes out they went to KSR bar for the game. KSR bar is using licensed UK logos to promote it. Guy wouldn’t have gone there without those promotions...UK could be lumped into an injury lawsuit.
there’s a lot of reasons why UK doe

didnt he get banned for like 25 years?Sounds like Matt better watch out or he will get the "BrianPoe" treatment.
When you think about it, Matt wasn't invited to this UK table where he dines and gets the $$ that he gets. They let him come in, and sit down. Now , if you come into my house without me asking you and you sit down to eat at my table, and I dont say a word, please be considerate that you are a guest. I think Matt has forgotten his place in the order that things are to be done at the great UK.Sure seems to me Matt has been a lot more critical of Cal lately. I wonder if this is blowback.
Pretty pathetic and weak move by UK, Mitch and JMI. really disgraceful on their part. Like them or not, KSR is the #1 UK supporter/promoter/connector for UK sports. UKAA continues to show they are completely clueless when it comes to fan engagement and how to treat the regular fans.
Georgia asked the packers for permisjson to use their logo way back.It doesn't take much difference to get by copyright laws with logos. It only needs a slight change and it's no longer the UK logo.

Lots of high schools just use NFL logos recolored to their schools colors. Monroe county uses the atlants hawks logo.Greenwood High School in Bowling Green uses pretty much the same logo.
I see your point, but most business dont mind folks profiting off of them as long as they are promoting them. Think those folks are called "sales reps".Far be it for me to point out a hissy by Matt Jones and he be wrong but it’s likely some corporate decision at the JMI level, not UK (Mitch, Cal or anybody else) plus, while Matt is philosophically correct in saying this is stupid by UK and JMI, from a business standpoint it’s absolutely the correct call. I hate bullies. UK and JMI biting a hand that helps promote them. Big money trying to stop the little guys.
Mitch lucked out with UK getting a part of the huge SEC tv contract because he sure can’t market. The no beer sales outside the Corp suites is another example of the regular guy bias. Ticket prices through the roof. It’s already tough going and here’s a local restaurant being threatened.
We have recruits committing in KSR and outside media and our coaches in their place several fundraisers. Watch parties. C’mon Mitch get out of the country club mindset and live and let live.
Just plain bullying.
More like, "Do as I say, not as I do".I thought Matt Jones was Mr. "rules are rules, you should follow them"
If you listen to him, you will realize he would be/is a terrible lawyerFar be it for me to point out a hissy by Matt Jones and he be wrong but it’s likely some corporate decision at the JMI level, not UK (Mitch, Cal or anybody else) plus, while Matt is philosophically correct in saying this is stupid by UK and JMI, from a business standpoint it’s absolutely the correct call.
