Pretty pathetic and weak move by UK, Mitch and JMI. really disgraceful on their part. Like them or not, KSR is the #1 UK supporter/promoter/connector for UK sports. UKAA continues to show they are completely clueless when it comes to fan engagement and how to treat the regular fans.

KSR has been guilty of daring to criticize John Calipari's coaching.
The Cal Cancel Culture is eating one of their very own woke entities.
This is what eventually happens to every society that makes the mistake of trying to silence their critics.
It never ends well.......for anyone.
I agree with you 100 % Matthew Harper Jones- R.L.
Sure seems to me Matt has been a lot more critical of Cal lately. I wonder if this is blowback.
And this is the voice of reason, everyone. KSR has been pushing the envelope on this since the beginning and has been benefitting when they shouldn't have been.Far be it for me to point out a hissy by Matt Jones and he be wrong but it’s likely some corporate decision at the JMI level, not UK (Mitch, Cal or anybody else) plus, while Matt is philosophically correct in saying this is stupid by UK and JMI, from a business standpoint it’s absolutely the correct call. Let’s say they let KSR slide on this but stop Buffalo Wild Wings or some other local restaurant. Those restaurants would have a legitimate gripe. JMI spent a lot of money to own the UK name, to distribute it as they see fit. Is it right, that people like Matt Jones are able to profit off the use just because he’s simultaneously promoting it at the same time? UK or JMI makes no profit share off the promotion at KSRbar.
I also can’t believe the lawyer in Matt doesn’t see the liability issue here. Let’s say someone comes to one of his promoted UK games at KSR bar. Gets drunk, drive and smacks into and injures a person. Later comes out they went to KSR bar for the game. KSR bar is using licensed UK logos to promote it. Guy wouldn’t have gone there without those promotions...UK could be lumped into an injury lawsuit.
there’s a lot of reasons why UK doe

Maybe. Or it could be because Matt is a lying thief.Probably because he doesn't kiss their *** on his radio show. He's been vocal on the Mitch lifetime contract, and how awful Cal has been this year.
They had a right to go after KSR and they should in order to protect themselves. They are well within their rights to do what they did, period.
It is dumb to go after your biggest third-party cheerleader, period.
Interesting but also slightly different circumstance as they aren’t selling UK licensed merchandise but using logo as vehicle of promotion. So Jones’ position is that he can use a trademarked logo that he does not own in a business context to make money, or at least enhance his sales?
would he say the same thing is the KSR logo was used by someone on here without permission, say , on a t shirt or coffee mug ?
They didn't have to do this to protect themselves. People parroting this just don't understand trademarks. You can grant people a license to use your logo to promote your product. Plenty of places around KY that aren't UK display the UK logo. They had a right to go after KSR and they should in order to protect themselves.

imagine if they voided his press pass for noncompliance.I find it interesting that so many are defending Jones in illegally using UK's trademark. If it's no big deal, why do we even have trademark laws? It's to protect your property. In Matt's case it can debated how much it helped him and his businesses. But you can bet your bottom dollar that it has helped, otherwise he wouldn't have done it or be so upset that he got busted. And for those that say Matt wouldn't mind someone using his trademarks, I say you're crazy.
And they could do that. He might want to admit he's at fault and hush about it.imagine if they voided his press pass for noncompliance.![]()
Absolutely. His association with Marc Maggard launched him. Maggard was the one with the inside info from what I gather. That and what he gleaned from various sites, like this one. Not to take anything away from Jones, as he was smart enough to steal and present all of that info. He's really parlayed that into quite a business. He's on ESPN radio a lot. He's made a great career for himself. With a dubious start, nonetheless.Didn't Matt get his start by gathering and aggregating UK info and repackaging it for consumption?
The thing is, if they are doing it to KSR, they need to do it for EVERYBODY. You cant just pick and choose.I'm not sure why he's even complaining. As a lawyer, he should know that unauthorized use a registered trademark is expressly forbidden. It's as cut and dried as you can get. He should have gotten proper authorization to use it.
********. Getting out of recruiting nonsense was best thing Matt Jones ever did, but regardless if there was one recruitment that launched Matt Jones it was Patrick Patterson. He had nothing to do with Marc MaggardAbsolutely. His association with Marc Maggard launched him. Maggard was the one with the inside info from what I gather. Matt is a walking advertisement for Soy products. What a ball-less chump.Remember that story when supposedly someone cut people in line at the concession stand @ Rupp, Matt popped off to the guy, and the guy said something back so Matt takes a pic of him and walks away? Lol dude is soft
******** to your ********. You don't know what you're talking about. Honestly, you very rarely do. Early on, Maggard had the info. During the Gillispie days. Not even just with recruiting. Matt isn't into basketball recruiting news these days because he no longer gets that info for basketball. He does in football. That's the shift.********. Exactly, or you risk being able to protect your trademark, at all.The thing is, if they are doing it to KSR, they need to do it for EVERYBODY. You cant just pick and choose.
I followed KSR since the first months. What you’re posting simply isn’t true.******** to your ********. You don't know what you're talking about. Honestly, you very rarely do.
