you don't know what you're talking about. at all. Briles was trying to protect players and didn't know whether they did something or not. the way he went about it was in accordance w school policy - it was the policy that was at issue w title IX outlines. he's not scum as you say. please be specific, what exactly was scummy? Some would sell their souls to win games. Louisville does it and many here want to do it as well.
It's not worth it. Petrino was scum and so is Briles.
Baylor took our coach that got us on the hot seat. Only fitting we take theirs.
Steve Spurrier's available. What about Bill Parcells ? Wasn't he close to coming at one point ? Tony Dungy may be a dark horse too. Why not think big.
First lets get one thing straight. Mitch didnt hire Cal. He was introduced to Cal. Cal was already hired.I like where your head is at and I would love to have him, but Mitch would never hire him, not in a million years. It took a ton of arm twisting just to get him to hire Cal, I can't imagine what it would take for him to to hire Briles.
And let's be honest, Mitch doesn't even know enough about football to understand what kind of a coach Briles is. He would hire the running backs coach at Florida State before he would hire Briles.
Guy Morris left here for Baylor.
I have a feeling Mitch would resign before being forced into that situation again.Only way this would ever happen if Mitch is pressured by the big-time donors. I don't know who those big-time donors are but that's the only way it will ever happen. Much like when he hired Cal. Mitch didn't want Cal everybody else wanted him.
FusterCluck your being naive. Mitch would never step off the gravy train. He had a chance to do just that with Cal and he choose to stay. He will do as he is told.
I just find that insanely hypocritical. Petrino is an a$$...but his personal problems are nothing compared to the allegations of aiding in the coverup of multiple sexual assaults.
Petrino's problems go far beyond "personal problems". He lied to his boss. He used his position to hire his mistress, a huge HR issue for any public university. He's a scumbag, but not just because he cheated on his wife (I'm guessing a lot of coaches cheat on their wives). Nice selective memory.
As for Briles, we do not know all of the information (yet). I've stated above that if we learn that he knew about the situation and aided in a cover-up, then I would not support his hiring.
As to Petrino.
I dont care if he lies to Barney.
I dont care who he hires as an admin assistant.
I dont care about his personal sex life, they could be swingers for all we know, as they are still married.
There is a bunch of smoke around Briles and this stuff is serious. If he knew he should not only be done with football but also face criminal charges.
I'm well aware. Guy was NOT involved with the Bassett stuff.
This was another Mitch screw up.
Guy Morriss only took our probation laden team from 2-9 to 7-5 the very next year and was one pass deflection from beating LSU and going 8-5.
He wanted raises for his staff and Mitch said no.
I'm kind of shocked that you dont know bout this.
Do you care if Petrino breaks state laws while representing a state institution?
How did his tenure at Baylor turn out?
HR laws? Seriously?
Come on Caveman. The dude is a total douche, no disagreement.
He's not Satan, but he would have left us high and dry as soon as he had any success here so it doesnt matter.
I think the point is that in order to get a big time coach they will most likely have a stain on their record.
Satan? While I think some here would debate the rational for hiring Satan, I never said BP was Satan. But, we are not talking about a man who simply mad a bad decision in his marriage.
And I agree he would have bolted, perhaps the very next year for UL. That would have been a good experience.
I remember it well. I was still only pointing out the fact Baylor grabbed him, now let's get Briles. It was a joke.I'm well aware. Guy was NOT involved with the Bassett stuff.

I'm not saying I'm comfortable with Briles yet but Petrino is a bigger turd for sure. So, the message board that rips Petrino about being a terrible person is cool with hiring Art Briles?
Every time there is a setback, a group of posters react emotionally and want to hire a new coach with no realistic chance to end up at Kentucky. First, it was Steve Spurrier. (Isn't that how we got Curry?) Then Mike Leach, Bobby Petrino, Chip Kelly. Now Art Briles. Then when it doesn't happen, that gives them their chance to complain about Barnhart. LOL! Why don't we just get it over with and hire Urban Meyer? First place, Briles would not be a good choice here. He is 60, and he left Baylor under scandal. The debate over whether Briles deserved his fate at Baylor would become fuel for the local media. Briles has spent his entire life in Texas, and has no connection to the southeast. And if he succeeded at Kentucky, he would quickly be hired away by a power program. Stoops will not be fired this year, and no amount of wishing otherwise will change that. But I am becoming more convinced that Stoops will be gone after the 2017 season, absent a major turnaround during the next 17-18 games. That turnaround can still happen, but probably not with Eliot as the defensive coordinator. If Stoops gets fired, I believe our next coach should be a younger guy with a winning record as a head coach at a program with a history of feeding successful head coaches up to P5 programs. He will need good connections in the southeast or midwest. Remember Stoops has recruited well because of good connections in Ohio. If I was MB, I would not pick an old guy with no regional connections who just got tossed out from a P5 school in a scandal. But that's me.I like the idea of Briles. Got a bit of tarnish on him that might keep the other better jobs away, older and established sense of turning around a perennial loser, and wants to restore his good name. Only possible problem he's never left Texas before. Like ever in 60 years never left Texas.
If anyone takes the time to really read all the stuff that came out of Waco you see that their was mixed feelings about him leaving. He had a 8 year, 40 Million dollar contract when all the crap hit the fan. The University had just spent 300 million on stadium improvements and many of the donors wanted Briles to accept a one year suspension but Briles didn't accept that and sued Baylor for breach of contract and unlawful termination.
He received 20 million when he settled. He himself said he will coach again in 2017.
Why does UK need him? Throughout his career he takes perpetual losers and turns them into winners. He did it at Houston and at Baylor. He would open up Texas as a real recruiting hub and is basically an offensive genius with the players he has on a team. He develops great QB play, ala Robert Griffen, and plays a style of football that scores points. Lots of points.
The U.K. Powers that be need to get with the program, accept what the fans want, bite the bullet, and hire this man at any cost. Any and all moral issues are foolish to even talk about. Barney needs to put the UK football fan first and put his morals in the basement. If he can't, his *** needs to be fired as well. Clean house at UK or go home. Trust me, if Barny received an email from the 30,000!plus who bought season tickets and it said your never supporting him until ha makes this change, then change will come.
Losers accept losing. UK fans are not losers but to keep on supporting this program which doesn't support the fan is foolish. Remember, all these Universities care about is money, not your team.

It is relevant when you make this comment in this thread. Mitch didn't keep Morris and you said it was a screw up even though he failed miserably at Baylor right?
so I'm following you around because I'm replying to your post? Got it.I feel like you are following me around like a lil creeper...?
Yes letting a coach go who had a great year like that was not a good move.
The next 3 years we went 4-8, 2-9, and 3-8.
So yes that looked entirely stupid.
Baylor was a garbage heap when Guy arrived, they had 6 straight seasons of not winning over 3 games.
But again, means absolutely nothing. You can suck on MB's nipple all day long for all I care, but I was quite privy to what was going on then.

Oh gosh do tell us your double secret inside info. We'd all like to know.
Except there are players who played under Briles who were found guilty and serving prison sentences. We are above such things say the pc addicted. They place pc above innocent until proven guilty. We lost a defensive player and student because of such absurdity.
The inmates are running the nut house.

People need to understand that most of our big time donors have fallen on hard times as coal has been replaced by natural gas and oil. And it ain't coming back .
Derrick rose cheated on his SAT is that Cals fault?Except there are players who played under Briles who were found guilty and serving prison sentences.
I went to Trinity and I think ppl are putting a little to much stock into Jeff brohm. Assuming that's who you're talking about.I don't expect, or even want, a squeaky clean program. One of those that wins at a high level essentially doesn't exist. But there's quite a gulf between a choir boy coach and the stuff that went on at Baylor.
If you're really pining for a new coach, there's a pretty damn good one right in our own state. And if we don't land him, he'll go home in a couple years and wear our *** out until he retires or jumps to the NFL.
