I went to Trinity and I think ppl are putting a little to much stock into Jeff brohm. Assuming that's who you're talking about.

How so? Jeff graduated near the top of his class at Trinity. He was a solid undersized college QB and athlete who have a dance in the NFL. His HC experience at WKU is hard to debate. So, what does being a THS alum have to do with it?

Everybody knows this.

LOL, yes I had the first sports company that had web/print/tv/radio

And since we started with a website UK used that against us and said the Internet was not media.

Totally disregarded tv shows on ESPN and cbs, radio on clear channel, several thousand print subscribers.

As well as staff writers who included Dan Wetzle, Larry Vaught and Lonnie Demaree. But the internet thingy...

Kinda dumb now right?

In reality if your little sissy hands Google more you will see I also was the first to use Big Blue Nation in commerce and trademarked it.

Also our company was kicking Host communications butt.

UK couldn't have either of those happen and totally, and unethically, destroyed us.

Cost family and friends investment money and about 20 employees jobs.

We never contacted recruits like today. No cell phones, no social media. Always thru AD's and coaches and never alone.

Oh and the part in asking fans to recruit... Remember when Matt Jones spearheaded the attempt to get fans to the Harris game in which Stoops arrived by helicopter?

That is what we did. Told fans who UK was recruiting and where they would be playing.

It was very disappointing.

Like I said any real fan who followed UK sports back then already know this and many know exactly what went down.

So nice try you little *******.

Hide behind your anonymous name. I still use my real name and live in Lexington.

I am not ashamed of anything. Several big supporters reached out when this went down.

It worked out well for me personally as I built another career.

But anytime you want to come from behind your little user name and actually discuss me personally you know who and where I am.

Petrino looks like a choir boy compared to Briles. A coach who helped cover up sexual assaults and rape against women......are you kidding me?!?! If MB didn't hire Petrino, there's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY he even considers Briles.

Derrick rose cheated on his SAT is that Cals fault?

How did he help to cover up these rapes? I keep seeing this mentioned but there is zero evidence to suggest he covered up anything.

Big difference between rape and cheating on your SAT. I'm still not convinced the NCAA has even proven that. Beside if he did cheat he did so before he committed to Cal and when he wasn't living in Memphis. How could Cal have anything to do with that.

Briles on the other had guardianship over his players. I'm still not sure what he knew or when he knew it but it is very possible for him to be guilty to the point that he could never be hired again. Before we start talking about Briles you need to convince me that he was at worst negligent. I can forgive negligence. If he knew and really did help hide the sexual assaults then he shouldn't be allowed on UK's campus ever.

In a perfect world, the truth would matter. In this world, perception is reality. Regardless of what he did or did not do, or did or did know, as of a few months ago, his standing at Baylor was golden, and now, rightly or wrongly, he's out of there. If Tom Jurich was our AD, I could easily Briles being pursued here, when and if the head coaching job opened up. He's not, and I don't see our AD giving Briles a sniff. Moreover, assuming that Briles had other options, why would we think he would be banging on our door anyway?

If anyone takes the time to really read all the stuff that came out of Waco you see that their was mixed feelings about him leaving. He had a 8 year, 40 Million dollar contract when all the crap hit the fan. The University had just spent 300 million on stadium improvements and many of the donors wanted Briles to accept a one year suspension but Briles didn't accept that and sued Baylor for breach of contract and unlawful termination.

He received 20 million when he settled. He himself said he will coach again in 2017.

Why does UK need him? Throughout his career he takes perpetual losers and turns them into winners. He did it at Houston and at Baylor. He would open up Texas as a real recruiting hub and is basically an offensive genius with the players he has on a team. He develops great QB play, ala Robert Griffen, and plays a style of football that scores points. Lots of points.

The U.K. Powers that be need to get with the program, accept what the fans want, bite the bullet, and hire this man at any cost. Any and all moral issues are foolish to even talk about. Barney needs to put the UK football fan first and put his morals in the basement. If he can't, his *** needs to be fired as well. Clean house at UK or go home. Trust me, if Barny received an email from the 30,000!plus who bought season tickets and it said your never supporting him until ha makes this change, then change will come.

Losers accept losing. UK fans are not losers but to keep on supporting this program which doesn't support the fan is foolish. Remember, all these Universities care about is money, not your team.

You are insane! Much more talented coaches out there

A proven winner. I don't care who it's is. Throw the money at them they will come. Will be a lot more cost efficient considering the money we would make by having a winning team and imagine had we not had to buyout stoops and just threw a ton of money at football coach, if we can out 100's of millions into facilities we should be able to put 4-5 million to a proven winner. We keep hiring coordinators who have no clue how to be an HC. We need an HC who is a proven winner. I'm tired of us bringing in these losers and letting them con is into giving them free money. I'm just tired of it. We should've brought in leach last time, or petrino, screw what your morals are. It's time to put morals to the side and start winning. I'm tired of being one loser of a football fan because of the team I support. I don't even get excited at the game a fractionnifnthe amount I did when Brooks was here. Ever since stoops has been here I've felt hardly no energy or excitement at commonwealth, time to get rid of stoops. Give him his buyout and let's hire a freaking winner. I want to be able to look forward to football season. And stoops single handily ruins that for me. I legitimately hate Mark stoops. Everything that has happened so far I've predicted. I got blasted for it last season and this offseason for having the outlook I had. But I'm not one those losers that accept losing at all costs and will do anything to buy into stoops loser philosophy. I want to root for a winning team. These fans who blasted me in the offseason just enjoy rooting for a loser I guess. And they try and beat me for not expecting more out of a loser. But look where we're at now. Like every other year. I was right, they were wrong. In the offseason I was the worst poster on this board for my outlook on the season. Yet I've been right about everything every season. I'm tired of being right all the damn time about how much we suck. Let's hire a winner so I can be right about us being a winner.

Both won Saturday, but Texas and A&M both have coaches on the hot seat. I don't think A&M will be happy if they finish 4th in the west again, which is possible, Strong better do well at Texas this year or he will be unemployed himself. Those 2 schools will go after Briles and Herman, UK nor anyone else in the SEC will outbid those 2 and both are Texas people. Miles seat is extremely hot right now, it will get hotter with a loss to Bama and/or OM and I don't think they can beat either. They will be in the sweepstates for Briles, then there is AU. I don't think Gus makes it to 17, even after their good showing their fans aren't happy with what they call his sandlot offense. They will have a hard time finishing top half of the west. If Houston gets into the Big12, Herman is probably off the market, but Briles will become very wealthy with the bidding war for his service, anyone hiring him will likely do so with the understanding his son is next in line, it could be a real bargain.

Herman knew what he had returning. His staying put this year is not an indication that he will not move. I think he moves, regardless of the Big 12 decision, if a traditional power comes calling. For example, if LSU, a regular recruiter of that Texas area, cans Miles, I could see Herman taking that job. Absent a big time suitor, I think he stays put again. I think he is happy and knows he can win there.

This thread is everything that is wrong with UK fandom. A fan base that burns UofL, UNC on a daily basis, now wants to bring in a new football head coach with not a blemish, not a smear but a big freakin gash across his reputation. We aren't talking about speeding tickets, DUI's, hell we aren't even talking about stealing from a 7-11...no, we are talking about systematic cover-up by Briles or at the very least those working directly for him of sexual assault of MULTIPLE women!!

Do some of you ever stop to think before you post. You guys want a program more like UT, Auburn, UofL, Baylor...at what cost? You are willing to sell your sole and the only good thing there is about UK football fan's for some damn wins?! Who cares if our kids sell drugs, rape women, etc...they sure now how to play football. SERIOUSLY?! Wins for a damn college team mean more than the flagship University of our state turning out QUALITY MEN?

So for those of you that want to bring in trash to get some W's...you're probably the same ones that get up and leave a game in the 3rd quarter, like you are some how as invested in the team as the coaches or players...why because you donate some fckin money?! Like that gives you some sort of voice or power? News flash ********, that money bought you those seats that you get up and leave from. I hope you guys get what you want for a couple years, if for no other reason than to watch you all cower away when the **** hits the fan, and any reputation you had or the University had is gone because of some goddamn wins!

I mean this in the most sincere way possible...some of you people are pathetic. You lack integrity, morals, and put football on a damn pedestal. I wouldn't let some of you clowns around children, that's for damn sure. I mean seriously, what do you all teach your children, to be liars, thief's, rapists??? Don't matter how you win son, as long as you don't lose. Jesus Christ some of you all are sick!

I care more about facts than reputation. Cal has a terrible reputation outside of BBN, does that matter or does the truth matter? Art Briles didn't rape anyone, didn't encourage anyone to rape women, or cover up any rapes. I like to hold people accountable for their own actions.

What do you teach you kids, look around and see what everyone else's opinion is and base your opinion on that instead of facts? You're raising another generation of sheep.

It did big time for a while.

My Dad took a financial hit and many friends who were just like you guys that came to work for the company lost their jobs, made it tough for some families.

We had great relationships with coaching staffs both bball and fball, as well as many past and current players.

This was all about money.

The trademark issue was obvious, we did everything we could as far as providing free use to UK, but they fought us in court and we couldnt keep up financially.

Host was paying big money to be the media firm and we were killing their awful coaches show with an ESPN like highlight and recruiting show along with 3 radio shows during the week.

It was all Mitch and Sandy Bell. We were not the first, several businesses have been attacked over the use of the word Blue, which they think they own - like Bigg Blue Martini which used to be Big until UK threatened them years ago, to today with the legal issues of a small distillery using the state name KENTUCKY - as UK says they own that too.

http://dailycaller.com/2015/10/23/u...use-it-has-decided-it-owns-the-word-kentucky/

Folks can love these admin people all they want but the tactics they used against us were awful.

Called opposing schools and said we had been banned before any official release or threat of an actual ban. So when our people arrived to cover away games they were turned away at the gate, kicked Jim Tyreee out of Rupp Area covering a game for our ESPN show.

Told Dougie Allen since his major at UK wasn't journalism he wasn't allowed to be a reporter.

Spread lies everywhere.

The big lesson we learned was that college sports is a business first, 2nd, and 3rd.

We never did anything that would harm the school, except calling out the inequities of the football support back then.

And we were designing a franchising concept with the radio/web/print model partnered with clear channel, espn, fox sports and scout publishing.

We were simply too young and naive to understand the mechanics of big time sports and how the money game worked.

We started off as a band of internet posters, just like you guys, and it took off.

The NCAA never weighed in, we tried to find exactly what rules we had broken, never given any reasoning from them as they never made a ruling, nothing except from UK:

- We were boosters - although no staff had ever contributed to UK but all fans are considered boosters we were told..

- We were internet based and that is not media.

It was a joke.

But we all grew up loving UK and eventually learned to separate the players and coaches from the administration.

Mitch and I attend the same church and kids played in same ball leagues thus the spitefulness has rescinded on my part and to him it was simply a business decision.

I have never requested a lift on the ban and I will not while he is there. The ban is on season tickets and interaction with teams.

I am in a totally different field now and still attend games. Mostly the big bball games out of state in NY or Chicago and NCAA. Or I will go to select football games - UL last year.

Started a book I titled the Bg Blue Screw but never finished, lots of steamy stuff, it was more a release for me.

Everything worked out for me personally, was able to pay my dad back what he had lost and did well for myself and my family.

Jerks like @gobigblue812 try to throw this in my face ignorantly but just end up looking stupid.

Thanks for asking.

Facts...so Baylor got rid of a coach that took them to places they had never been because? They didn't have any facts, just decided to ditch their coach with no evidence, right?

http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/20160526-baylors-bombshell.ece

I raise to girls, so your damn sure better believe I want nothing to do with a rape culture or any hint of it. As for what I teach them...Honor, Courage, Commitment. Nothing good in life is easy, and nothing worth having is given to you. Don't lie, and treat others as you want to be treated.

No sheeple in my household. If you want to make excuses for disgusting behavior that's on you.

We would be lucky to have Briles, but we never will. Our AD wants it done the "right way" .. whatever that means.

I dont care if the media says our football coach is a scumbag, as long as he is winning.

They call Cal a cheater and we don't care. Why? Because he wins.

They call Cal a cheater because he is an excellent recruiter and motivator. Cal scares the basketball world, or did. He has NEVER been accused of any crimes or cover-ups, and never been named by the NCAA in any investigation.

Briles was neck deep in a disgusting sexual abuse culture at Baylor. Hard for anyone to say that he knew nothing about it, when people on his staff were in on it. Baylor did the right thing and cleaned house.

There are things that can be explained away or people can turn a blind eye towards, but allowing a rape culture to exist on a team you are responsible for should not be one of them.
He is an excellent coach, no doubt. The question that needs to be asked though is would he do more long term harm than good? Nobody knows the answer to that question, so it's a matter of taking a leap of faith and hoping he learned his lesson...that's an awful big leap for a program that can't even build correctly let alone one that can just simply reload.

do some research. Baylor PAID him! If he'd done something illegal or against school policy they would NOT have done this. the school tried to make him a scapegoat to save the prez's neck and it blew up on them.

Actually they sound like twins but I can see a ul fan not understanding that.

Yeah, they were guilty as hell and everybody knows it, it's in every report and article. It's also in every report and article that the football team was a big part of the blow up. So what is more likely, nothing at all happened and they paid him to just go away...a coach who was taking Baylor to new heights? Or...The University screwed up, Briles screwed up, and in order to save face the University pays him off? He isn't as innocent as anyone want's him to be. He was involved in a rape culture for the Baylor football team.

I know Cal isn't a cheater, but the fact remains he had to vacate F4 wins from two different programs. The media hated him before UK and they hate him now.

I agree Baylor did the right thing by firing Briles, but they didnt clean house. There are still some of the same coaches on staff. Im pretty sure Briles son is the OC.

When you look around the country how many times do players from the top tier programs get charged with Sexual Assault?? FSU, Tennessee, Florida, etc.. we had our own issue to deal with.

Rape is in a category of its own and you're right it is disgusting. Many other big time programs can keep victims quiet one way or the other.. It is awful, terrible, and an indictment on our society but thats the way it is.

The main point of my post - I want an AD who will do whatever it takes to win. An AD who will hire a coach who does whatever it takes to win. IMO Art Briles would be the best hire, with his offensive mind and our offensive weapons he would put up 40+ a game and he knows how to take a loser and make them a winner. I understand this will come off as shallow, but im tired of losing.

Last weekend was the first time I was actually embarrassed to be a UK fan. Maybe I was embarrassed because I actually expected us to be better. Silly me, you would think after 25 years I could figure that out.

I agree with everything you said...MY problem is I don't find it as easy as some to excuse deplorable actions for the sake of winning.

I'm not saying I want UK to always been the struggling program, but there has got to be someone energetic, young, experienced, moral, and so full of himself that he is willing to take the gamble of a lifetime and succeed.

I can tolerate recruiting violations, I can tolerate a drunken disorderly, or getting busted with a joint...what I can't tolerate is any violence against women or covering it up. It's one of few instances when there is more to life than winning a damn game.

Fair enough.

I would give Briles a second chance.
I don't think hes a bad guy, just made a bad decision. However, I understand and respect why no one would want anything to do with him.

Im just a desperate UK fan that wants to win, that is it.

For the record, Stoops was my guy. I defended him, I praised him, I was all in. He lost me saturday night in a big way.. On one hand I want us to lose soo bad that we have to fire him this year. On the other, UK is my team and I hate seeing us be inept.
If we fire him this year we can get a new coach that has some talent before it all leaves and we have to start from scratch again

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a second chance, but I would want to see him prove it was a mistake first somewhere smaller and work his way back. Granted that probably takes us out of the equation, but it helps the man rebuild his reputation.

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. I long for the days of 8+ win seasons, and bitching about finishing second in the east...I will never lose hope that those days will come. I just don't want to sacrifice everything to see it happen.

There is a really good unemployed former HC out there that has been absolved of all wrong-doing by the NCAA that is itching to get back into coaching...

Would that be Butch Davis?

I'd take him in a heart beat...if you're referring to Tressel...I think he'd be another Bill Curry.

I posted a national media report. Why is that ignorant?

do some research. Baylor PAID him! If he'd done something illegal or against school policy they would NOT have done this. the school tried to make him a scapegoat to save the prez's neck and it blew up on them.
certainly - of course, no party ever settles litigation to avoid further legal bills, to avoid uncertainty, to avoid more damaging leaks of information. yes, if Baylor settled you can infer he was innocent.:eek:kay:
