been waiting all year for poythress to hit that shot. but he won't take more than one a game so it's been difficult lol. i give him credit he waits until he's open and it happens once a game.

Just stop. No. Ask any coach.

It's simple. Put yourself in the best situation to make the shot. Ulis was not in the best situation. He couldn't use the rim to protect his shot and he was not at a proper angle to find a trailer. Odds were good that he was going to get blocked, and he knew it. So, he could do what he did and put up a crazy shot hoping that we get a rebound or that it luckily goes in, he could have done a jump stop and waited for Seldon to fly past, or he could have kept his dribble, pulled it out to the short corner to hit the trailer or hit a jumper from there. Ask any coach and they will tell you that they want you to shoot the shot that has the highest probability of going in. If you're that worried about getting blocked then don't shoot that shot.

By the way, Ulis just pulled it out on a fast break. In that one he didn't have the numbers so he stopped and set up a play where he got fouled.
