I mean, I don't think that has anything to do with some of the effort and awful shooting we are seeing. We aren't 46% from the FT line because Lowe is out. We just aren't good at shooting.

looks like a team that’s worried about injuries and not going 100%. That’s my guess. Because there is no way Oweh Aberdeen and Mo would be standing around letting these midgets punk their ***.

It's UGLY. I'm trying to find a silver lining. The defense has been decent, but I can't tell if it's that the defense is good or Nicholls just can't make shots. We look terrible. No shooters. Can't make a free throw. Not sure where the scoring will come from against a good team. I'm just hoping this was a case of nerves?? Unforced turnovers. No offense running. This is why I never post mid-game.
If we end up winning by 30, it's going to be because Nicholls doesn't have enough players left to put 5 on the floor.
The problems that people are pointing out were also present in the game against Georgetown. And they are problems that will lead to this team getting dogwalked repeatedly when they play a team with a modicum of athleticism.

Interesting that your all doom and gloom, yet not a single positive word about the defense. You spend a lot of time bitching. Every now and then throw out something positive, but not just when things are going great.

Effort is a bit subjective.
I don't think a lack of effort is what happened this half. We just shot the ball horribly. Which........happens. Better to have happened in one half vs Nichols, a team we are going to beat by 25+ anyways vs next week vs UL. And this game won't have any bearing on that one.

I understand it’s first game. But we have returners, we’ve practiced, we have veteran transfers from winning programs, we’ve played two exhibitions. It’s probably time to call a spade a spade - this team can’t shoot. It’s disjointed. It’s not as deep as we thought. They even look lazy. Something’s off. No leadership? No strong voice? I don’t know, but you’re 100% correct / this is concerning for sure.

I swear every time I come to this site I'm reminded why I quit coming. Some of the comments are silly. They are a young team. it's the first official game. Pope proved last year he's a good coach and a good motivator. They look rough right now but give Pope time to coach and develop. You don't judge on day 1. You judge much later in the season.
Sure and holding said team to just 15 points is pretty great defense.

And what does that 225th mean? According to that site, we win this game by 29 (92-63).
It's very possible that while we aren't getting anywhere near 92, we aren't giving up anywhere near 63 either. And could still win by about that same 29 that's predicted.

I would expect most would be pumped for the first game of the season, regardless of opponent. Not to mention, we looked similar against Gtown. If not corrected, how would it not have bearing on the UL game?
So November losses don't matter come Selection Sunday, right? They don't affect KenPom and analytical metrics that feed seeding, right?
maybe that's how we should handicap it. The team with highest NIL budget has to spot a bucket for every million they paid over the other team.
