Kentucky looked like pure garbage the entire first half. UCLA up by 13 in the second.

We just can't handle the beef and butt in the paint........Lee out after 7 mins with head injury and won't return. UCLA ..hungry for this game and just plainly out playing UK.
Will take a Duke-like game from our guards to make this close.

As I said during the UK game, Duke losing wasn't because of UK, but Duke. They played young and weren't ready. Kentucky didn't show me anything

And UK has played young and not ready for a large part of all 8 games.
4 of 8 in rotation are Fr plus Humphries who is getting some clock tonight.

Young teams are a big part of the OAD culture .....you just deal with it.

I feel like UK beating us was about the dominance of Ulis and Murray. That and Grayson overplayed.

These refs suck btw. And Calipari isn't coaching well.

You beat Calipari teams the way you always beat them. You stop dribble penetration and inside play by packing it in. You make his teams shoot jumpers and they are never consistent. That's why his teams often lose to teams playing good zones.

Credit to UCLA they have really packed the paint in the man defense and Kentucky can't shoot.

Duke has begun to play better and UK has not shown a great amount of growth yet. Their game and win against you guys was as much about matchups as anything else. I think UNC would match up much better against UK but does not match up as well against a better outside shooting team like you guys. UK has strong guards that penetrate well but they don't take advantage of it with their lackluster outside shooting.

UCLA man is playing under the 3pt line. When we played them we were pressuring them like we usually do out almost to half court. Once your beaten by your man the entire defense breaks down.

It's really my only criticism of how K plays D. Especially with these rules now...just back off and stop the penetration and contest jump shots.

IMO, the difference in Duke's and UK's progress is Duke is basically putting 2 Fr in the rotation and UK is working in 4 Fr. and 5 counting Humphries.

Ohh wait I misspoke according to the brains of RR after they beat us they had a real shot at not 40-0 not 80-0 but possibly not getting beat 'till 2018
I saw that post at RR and I couldn't help but laugh when I saw someone actually say that Kentucky was going to go something like 118-1 between last season, this season and next season lol

Yeah it's the risk you run every year when you recruit so many one and dones. You have to recruit players that talented but you need to find a balance between some good 4 stars and the one and dones who will stick around. Hard to sell a 4 star multi year player though when there are so many top end freshman coming in every year. Cal is a great recruiter but he pushes the NBA brand so hard and his teams aren't always balanced.

UNC dropped from #1 to #9 after they lost their first game to an unranked team, with Kentucky losing their first game to an unranked UCLA, will/should they drop as far in the rankings as UNC did when the new polls come out on Monday?

I wonder if the UK fans think Ulis is garbage (like Grayson) after he went 2 of 12 from the field against the Bruins? How sweet it is!

Ulis was one of the bright spots actually. Not being able to fully extend his shooting arm probably had something to do with his shooting %, but he did everything else he needed to. Wouldn't trade him for any other PG in the country, nor would most other Cat fans.

Agreed. For many years I have been hoping to see us play more zone and pack line defense, after seeing too many movies of the lay up city collapses in March. Thankfully, we did quite some zone last year and it turned out well. Still hope K can just completely drop all philosophical preference for m2m and just do whatever that seems to work better for a given opponent.

Skal was absolute garbage as well. And Rupps Rafters is always great for a few laughs. Of course they have their usual "The refs hosed us" thread up as they do after every loss. Them and Hole fans are very similar in that way...
