</div><div>2012 Outlook</div><div>Should be very little dropoff here, if any. Vick was a heck of a back, but Griffin has the potential to be even better. Another offseason of training with Balis should continue to help him get into game shape and I think he has a breakout year next year. I think we see more of the same from Perkins. As with QB, there continue to be puzzling playcalling/personnel decisions regarding the RBs. Specifically, we continue to use Perkins in short yardage situations, continue to run slow developing read plays on short yardage situations, seem to abandon the speed options for entire games and ditto for the screen plays and other RB pass plays to Perkins. Hopefully we see some of this refined next year. </div><div>
</div><div>If it isn't Griffin that breaks out, it will most likely be Robinson. Talk about a bowling ball. Robinson has a Barry Sanders/Maurice Jones-Drew build and the wheels to go with it. I expect him and Milton to get a good look this spring to compete for that 3rd spot. </div><div>
</div><div>FB looks solid - hopefully Shump will be fully recovered and ready for an expanded role. </div><div>
</div><div>4 Year Outlook</div><div>Very possible that we have zero 2012 signees end up at RB, although there is a remote possibility that guys like Xavier Grindle or Beniquez Brown end up there at some point. This sets up pretty good for us because there are some outstanding RBs in the 2013 class. Moreover, we have 3 good looking RBs that are Soph or lower in Griffin, Robinson and Milton. I think we sign at least 2 RBs in 2013. As many have noted, this has never been a position of need at State and I don't see that happening anytime soon. </div>

I expect big things from this group. Who knows? We may even rediscover the Perkins screen play that we had some success with two years ago.

I really liked Josh Robinson's highlight video in HS. Some people said he ran a sub 4.4 at our camp. Not sure if I believe that, but the dude def looks the part.

I think Griffin's knock is going to be that he lacks explosiveness. I'm sure his knee is still trying to get to 100%. I didn't see him with a burst this year, but he looks like an animal standing around at practice.

I hope Josh Robinson really steps up so that we can have more of a change of pace. Also, with Relf gone, I think it will be more important to have a big back for short yardage situations.

He would have gotten a scholarship except he had an injury late in his senior season. If he can rehab and reshirt he will add to future depth.

of potential. Nick Griffin's knee is the only thing holding him back he appears to have a great attitude and instincts to be a solid RB. I wonder if Richie Brown<div>is going to get any looks?</div>

Given the depth at RB if we moved Richie or Beniquez to that side.

..doesn't end with the RB's.

Mullen has wasted Chad Bumphis' college career by throwing him nothing but lateral passes.

You would think after the 150th time a lateral pass to Bumphis went for a one yard loss, Mullen would figure out college DB's have too much closing speed to sneak a stupid lateral pass by them.

....irregardless, if you have a strict set of rules of how we are to repsond to these threads, then please post them.

Seems like I remember interviews with Perkins where he was around 190. I'd guess Griffinis closer to Ballard's size... somewhere between 210-220. Every website list these guys with different heights / weights.

will end up at RB when all is said and done. Just think we have too many true DBs already signed in this class for both of those guys to go to that position as well. So that leaves WR or RB. I'm pretty sure at least one of those guys (my guess Grindle) will end up as a RB.

If Griffin is Ballard's size, Vic weighed 217 at the senior bowl for the scouts. Im assuming that weight is accurate. Having seen both close up in person on numerous occasions I would say that Griffin is a little bigger so 220 would not be far off considering the senior bowl weight of Ballard. All that said, I dont give a **** what he weighs as long as he runs for alot of yards and scores many touchdowns

we might throw the ball more- our backs are not very proven other than Perkins- and he is much better in space and on screens.

I think Griffen emerges this year, though. That's going to be a big factor as to how our offense looks, I think.

As far as Richie Brown- I would like to see him worked in at FB on occasion. I don't think he should start at FB ever, but I think he could be good there in spots as he develops. First priority is him learning the defense and playing LB.

Bumphis is a handful when he has the ball in his hands...he just doesn't catch the ball well. Not sure if it is hand/eye or hard hands. Jerry Rice needs to toss some bricks at him.</p>

I think we all know what we've got with LP and that's comforting b/c he's pretty good. As alluded to in other post, we need to better use his receiving skills out of teh backfield and he's better out in space than slidestepping a LB in a crowd.

Griffin looked good in limited carries last year but the limp was still noticeable a good bit, especially in that UAB game. I think that will probably be gone this year and he's clearly our main power back.

Robinson is the practice hero that draws rave reviews. Given our defense, you have to take that as a positive. But for most of us that didn't watch any live practices, we don't really know what kind of burst/vision/hands the guy has. I'm intrigued though.

And Milton was pretty highly thought of as well as a big back - i just know nothing about him

For his career, Bumphis has 101 catches for 1348 yds and 12 TDs. Pardon me for asking, but WTF are you talking about?

that other teams have WRs that can effectively break the bubble screen. Hell, we've got WRs on our team that utilize the bubble screen better than Bumphis. The problem isn't the play, it's that Bumphis sucks. When he catches the ball, instead of using the screen and trying to get vertical quickly, he tries to juke everyone about 10 times and lets the pursuit catch up to him. Bumphis might not even be one of our top 5 WRs. He's inconsistent at best. Sure, he'll make the occasional insane grab or big play. But he drops about 4 easy catches for every 1 good catch he makes. I'm just not a fan. For all the hype he had coming out of HS, he hasn't come close to living up to said hype. Now if you want to talk wasted career, let's talk Michael Carr.

But aGAIN, we can discuss this when I make the WR post, probably Sunday or Monday. And I don't think Bumphis sucks...but I will wait to discuss that too.
