First and foremost, it was posted because it’s newsworthy.
Whether you agree with them or not, these are representatives from the most powerful nations in the world and they play a significant role in shaping when and how countries go to war. And the representatives from these nations are all gathering together in Rupp Arena to watch a Kentucky basketball game. Political opinions are irrelevant; the simple fact is that this is a newsworthy event.
Second, the fact that they’ll be attending a Kentucky game speaks to the prominence of the program. Kentucky basketball is a unique and special thing. This is simply further evidence of that, regardless of one’s views of the UN.
Anyone who gets hung up on the UN’s politics here is simply missing the point.

I stated an opinion on the post, which is the purpose for message boards. For whatever reason, you were offended (those of your ilk are perpetually offended, it’s what you do), and responded with a personal attack. I responded in kind, but again, those of your ilk don’t think responding to your nonsense is fair and it hurts your little feelings. You continually responded with sheep and uneducated crap. if you think about it in real terms, the subject of politics wasn’t even brought up in this entire thread. The UN isn’t a U.S. body. It’s international. It has nothing to do with our two party system and I did not say a single thing about either party. I specifically made a statement about the UN, which I despise due to its corruption. YOU are the one that took it in a political manner and ran with it, showing your true colors in the process.

I was a birthday party a couple weeks ago and this couple was taking their first trip out west. I was telling them about all the places I had been and when I mentioned California, she said, "I don't want to go to California." I asked her why because it is a beautiful state with a lot of history. She said, "I don't want to visit a state where everyone are liberals!" I said, that's a terrible reason not to go. I guarantee you that no one out there is going to come up and start talking politics out of the blue. Go enjoy what California has to offer....Napa Valley, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sequoia and Redwood forests. She just looked at me and said, "we'll pass".
It's amazing how some people can be so myopic live their lives that way.
