Mullen does not suck because Ole Miss beat LSU, but it weakens his position. How many of the current UM players were we in on during recruiting that we failed to seal the deal? Mullen was the hot item at the time and managed to pull together average recruiting classes. UM beating LSU had the twitter recruits all a buzz last night and I can tell you that it was not MSU they were talking about. If Mullen could not get the hang of recruiting when he was the shiny new coach, I don't see where a solid Ole Miss team is going to help him.
No, it doesn't weaken his position, just like winning all those egg bowls didn't strengthen his position.
Here's what every raving lunatic on here needs to realize: football seasons are very fragile things. As much as Ole Miss fans are fired up about that win yesterday, they could just as easily be 1-6 right now. If they don't get a prayer answered at Vanderbilt, their whole season takes a different trajectory. This is why all the people who say Mullen doesn't have a "signature win" should have their posting privileges revoked due to sheer stupidity. Mullen beat Florida and Georgia his second season. Yes, those teams ended up with worse records, but that's what happens when you beat them. It's why LSU will drop in the rankings. They play Alabama next week, and will drop into the 20s in the rankings after that game.
Are there things I'm unhappy about with our football team? Sure. But what happened yesterday has nothing to do with any of it. We are no more or less likely to win or lose the egg bowl based on what happened yesterday.
We will beat Kentucky this week. We will beat Arkansas. I like our chances against Ole Miss. I think we are going to play well in another game or two. We will be fine, and everyone needs to calm the 17 down.
