And another Forbes tweet.

At least one of the three is related to Ryan Smith, a pitcher at Walters State who plans to pitch there this spring and then enroll in Chapel Hill after that.

Jake's ERA is heading in the right direction:

2023 - 36.00
2024 - 9.53
2025 - 2.82

He only threw 1 inning in 2023, which I assume means he will be eligible for a retroactive redshirt once he transfers, since the Ivy League doesn't recognize redshirt status.

He appears to have some control issues, with 6 HBP, 7 WP and 13 BB in 22.1 IP last year. On the plus side, he struck out 26, and opponents hit just .214 against him. Perfect Game clocked his fastball at 91 four years ago.

Tyler struggled at JMU last year, and transferred to Walters State. He made 7 appearances for WS during their fall season, and was a strikeout machine... 16 K in 7.1 IP... which included striking out the side in his 1 inning pitched against us. He also threw 3.2 scoreless innings in the Cape Cod summer league.

I like hearing that!

Amos Rich enrolling early; will be eligible to play this season.

"The move will make Rich eligible to play this season for the Tar Heels baseball team. It’s also accelerated his timeline for getting ready for college."

“It is an added bonus. I was kind of hoping he’d pick State because that’s my alma mater,” [Julia] Plott joked. “But this is his lifelong dream to play at Chapel Hill. That’s been cool for all this to kind of come true. God’s hand has been through it all.”
