I know a very good 2027 LHP from Boston who is really hoping to hear from Coach. He was invited to a camp at UNC this summer, but he couldn’t make it because he was with his travel club at a tournament. His dad texted me last night with a new video of him. He’s really good, so I hope Coach reaches out.

Tommy, in your opinion, are decommits like this typically the player just deciding to look elsewhere, or could it be more of Coach Forbes seeing what we have and not thinking said player would be a good fit anymore. I just wonder how much NIL could be a factor at this point.

No information here just a guess that with the portal and roster limitations he wants a better chance to play early?

I would say decommits come in all shapes and sizes. Many reasons for both sides of the equation.

A lot of kids commit super early and never develop beyond that. Some blow up and want to look elsewhere for personal reasons.

He has fallen down the rankings in SC and I haven’t heard anything about him across the state since he committed. He flashed early but, don’t think it has held over time. Probably a combination of him making a smart choice and some honesty from our coaching staff
