Hubert Davis can't even stomach saying the letters in his declination.

So play for one guy’s development? Cliff could risk getting hurt…. But experience is good I guess. No Simpson needs more experience.
Development for Simpson and Woolfolk. That's what RU should have done as well....shut it down and revamp the roster with recruiting. There's nothing you can get from playing more games except risk more injuries.
Instead of declining it just play the guys who need development. Cliff and Paul can sit out, play Simpson and Wolf and the bench. We don't have a roster full of young guys....we're mostly built with upperclassmen.
Mike Rice was on the Rams' roster the last time we played Fordham at the RAC in the NIT.Can’t wait to play Fordham at the RAC…![]()
Even UNC just look like sore losers for declining it imo. This board is amazing. Rutgers makes NCAA tournament 3 years in a row (I’m counting covid), now we are talking about declining the NIT. This program is just getting started. Maybe when we have 6 national championships we can discuss declining the NIT during an off year. For now, let’s go on the court.

Didn’t know that but I was there. Back then we prayed for an NIT invite. At least that has changed.Mike Rice was on the Rams' roster the last time we played Fordham at the RAC in the NIT.
What was the point of continuing to play out the conference regular season in years when we had no shot at the tournament?I'm looking at the roster and unless we are planning on starting Woolfolk, Simpson, Chol and Jalen Miller next year, I don't see the upside. There's more likely a situation that some kids transfer or move on after graduation. Every teams situation is different. No one can tell me who won the NIT last year or 3 years ago. It's TV content and that's it.
I like that the bar is higher now. Don’t see much of an upside with the crap NIT, but it’s up to the players. Hopefully, we use it to get Simpson, Woolfolk and whomever else we think might be in the rotation next year and not waste it and treat it like we are in the NCAAs. I have no interest in trying to win it if it means less time for those players. This board is amazing. they should have played him against Minnesota and we wouldn't be in this messNo Simpson needs more experience.

Hawk - I’m sure Pike consulted with Caleb / Paul and Cliff etc. If they didn’t want to participate, we would’ve declined as well. That's what RU should have done as well....shut it down and revamp the roster with recruiting. Thanks. You just keeping pounding home how old I am…lol.
Xavier fired their coach last year. It was a disappointing yearRU barely has any post season history
of course you accept the bid...ask Xavier similar story to rutgers last year
I'm guessing we're pretty close in age...lolThanks. You just keeping pounding home how old I am…lol.
RU ‘85 here.I'm guessing we're pretty close in age...lol
This. Yes. I mean what if they LOST? No upside for UNC . None at all.UNC was preseason #1. There was zero chance they were going to play in NIT
Xavier fired their coach and they won it
Texas A&M also made the finals and look at them now
What I am saying is that tournament doesn’t matter.Different roster and different situation completely. The season ended for me tonight or could have ended 3 days from now in Dayton or 5 days from now somewhere else in Orlando or Sacramento.
Just because someone burns you, doesn't mean you have to accept it.
Cliff still needs development too.So play for one guy’s development? Cliff could risk getting hurt…. But experience is good I guess.
