This board is amazing. Rutgers makes NCAA tournament 3 years in a row (I’m counting covid), now we are talking about declining the NIT. This program is just getting started. Maybe when we have 6 national championships we can discuss declining the NIT during an off year. For now, let’s go on the court.

Even UNC just look like sore losers for declining it imo.

I'm looking at the roster and unless we are planning on starting Woolfolk, Simpson, Chol and Jalen Miller next year, I don't see the upside. There's more likely a situation that some kids transfer or move on after graduation. Every teams situation is different. No one can tell me who won the NIT last year or 3 years ago. It's TV content and that's it.

What was the point of continuing to play out the conference regular season in years when we had no shot at the tournament?

The mood of the team must be of deep disappointment.Losing a game in the NIT would just be used by Rutgers critics as justification for non selection to the NCAA Tournament.I agree the emphasis should be placed in improvement of next seasons roster with shooters. Fans should realize that being a bubble team can have disappointing results. There needs to be a larger margin for error.

I like that the bar is higher now. Don’t see much of an upside with the crap NIT, but it’s up to the players. Hopefully, we use it to get Simpson, Woolfolk and whomever else we think might be in the rotation next year and not waste it and treat it like we are in the NCAAs. I have no interest in trying to win it if it means less time for those players.

Different roster and different situation completely. The season ended for me tonight or could have ended 3 days from now in Dayton or 5 days from now somewhere else in Orlando or Sacramento.

Just because someone burns you, doesn't mean you have to accept it.

Texas A&M also made the finals and look at them now

Irrelevant....different rosters and different situations.....they weren't good until February 2022 and got hot and played a ton of their younger players. Our roster is not built that way, whatsoever.

What I am saying is that tournament doesn’t matter.
