The usual suspects defending racist yearbook photos. Screaming, please stop being mean to the people who took those racist pictures.

Really loose with assumptions aren’t you?
Wait, didnt you call the entire Golden State Warriors team racist, the NFL a bunch of racist thugs, Lebron James racist, Mike Anderson racist, J.A. Advance racist, Mike Wilbon racist, Jay Williams racist, and the Arkansas womens basketball team racists?

Nah, pretty spot on. Racism survives because it is passed on through generations that are taught directly or indirectly that it is ‘okay’ to joke about disgusting **** like what you see in that picture. The fact that ‘Old South’ parties still go on this day and age on campuses shows that it is passed on from generation to generation.

No assumptions needed when the proof sits right in front of you.

Well, they probably passed on racism to their kids. You okay with that? I’m not.

That is an idiotic statement. Has anyone alleged that the Gov of Virginia or its AG have raised racist kids? How about Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon? They did it too. Are they assumed by you to raise racist kids? Your comment reflects how things are done in Communist fascist places. Sick.

I went to college at WKU not long after that photo was taken. WKU was not a bastion of progressive thinking in the early 80s by any stretch but I can tell you that would have been considered pretty racist even back then. That said, drunken college kids do goofy stuff for shock value and laughs. To assume those kids were racists is a stretch.
But to say that was accepted back then and that they absolutely weren't racist is a stretch as well.

This is a wise statement.

I've never seen anything like this in my personal life, nor do I condone or support such behavior, but these were kids being idiotic more than racists being racist... the whole reality of racist history in this country and tribal in the world is actually absurd and absurdist humour is one way some people can cope with that reality... additionally it's easy to imagine something like you propose given the same context at this, would a man dressed as some famous female singer for a halloween costume be a funny joke or transphobic?
You might consider looking up the difference in cross-dressing and transgender. It may prevent you from making such foolish statements/analogies, thus appearing very uneducated on matters.

Also, typically women weren't abductes, sold, traded in slavery in the US, unless of course they were black. Women also weren't typically beat tortured and murdered just for being women in the country, unless of course they were black.

You do realize you aren't just supporting a person wearing black face paint. They are dressed as KKK members, reenacting lynching a "black person". And they are all smiles about it. I don't give a **** how long ago it was, it's stilm wrong and disgusting. Calling people out for grotesque behavior doesn't have a statute of limitations.

I think we should track them down and destroy their lives, ruin their kids futures, tear their family apart, make them pay reparations and put them in prison for 25 years.

Amirite?
I don’t think anything should be done. I just think it was an incredibly stupid and ignorant decision by several people.

I do assume since Dean Smith coached at UNC for years after this happened, that it was apparently common knowledge and he did nothing about it, he can now be labeled a complicit racist. Because if the national media labeled Rupp a racist, Smith should be known as one also.

Do you have pics of them dressed in KKK robes, or as a black person mocking a lynching?

If these guys were just wearing black make-up most wouldn't care. Dressing as a black person for halloween or something isn't racist unless its mocking or belittling them for being black. Which is exactly what this pic does.

As I said, I was and am in no way shape or form supporting said people. Also, women of any tribe are sold into slavery today as forced prostitutes. I am aware that cross dressing is separate from gender transition, however I am not aware that 25 years from now transgender people might find cross dressing as offensive.

ON this we can agree.

Calling people out for grotesque behavior doesn't have a statute of limitations.

On this we cannot... while you point your finger, someone else is judging you. For example, it is quite clear who is the fool here, good luck. I am done here, have a good one and GBB!

The Virginia Governor’s now infamous black faced pic was in 1986 and the 3rd in line Attorney General Mark Herring also wore a black face in 1980. There is no statute of limitations in the court of public opinion.
The blackface is a ruse to cover up the fact th gov likes to kill newborn babies

LMAO, so are you now saying black people didn't become offended by racism until 25+ years later?

How many of these tribes are in America? Again, read this slower and try understanding. Maybe you have a big brother or sister who can read it for you. "Also, typically women weren't abducted, sold, traded in slavery in the US, unless of course they were black.

If you were aware, why did you use the ignorant analogy that made no logical sense?

If they aren't offended by it now, why would they be offended by it in 25 years? Again, Cross-dressing and Transgender are 2 different things. One doesn't ridicule or disrespect the other. I find it odd that I have to explain this to someone who supposedly already knows about it.

ON this we can agree.

They can judge me all they want. They wont find these kinds of things in my past.

I agree, it is quite clear a fool, who doesn't know the difference in cross-dressing and transgender, nor the meaning of US vs. tribes, is among us. [winking]

Take care!

Look man, we just aren't in the same league... I skimmed your post; no you cannot define a straw man to defeat here and you are not someone I am willing to engage in a conversation as you clearly are not a serious person worthy of it.

Ohh, I am not really engaging you in conversation. I figured that would be pretty easy to identify by someone knowledgeable. I was just simply pointing out the ignorance in your uneducated analogy. It was rather amusing. Obviously having someone call out your ignorance has struck a cord and offended you.

PS, you might want to read up on fallacies a little more. You seem confused as to what a straw man fallacy actually is.

I searched it there are multiple stories about it and it shows the whole book. It isn't photoshopped LOL. Even though it was a long time ago that's a bad look. Need to bring that up with recruiting LOL. This, KU issues, all we need is a Dook story of bad times or embarrassment and we will have pulled off the Holy Trinity of BlueBlood. Come on Dookie story!

This must be tweeted to the proper people.

I took no offense, thanks for not engaging me. You can do me,yourself and everyone else a solid while you are at it and continue to refrain from doing so in the future.

Here we are again.

A photo of blatant racism shows up, and we still have idiots on this board tap dancing.

You people are being manipulated into ignorance out of shear political expediency and exploitation.

See that reaction you got when you assumed something I meant but didn't by saying "you people"... that's part of said manipulation. There's still hope for you.

For someone who is done, you sure keep coming back a lot.

Obviously you were offended. We can all pretend you weren't if it makes you feel better about it, but people who aren't offended don't do the juvenile name-calling - insult type thing. It's cool though. Enjoy your youth and learning opportunities. Hopefully you will gain some insight into the real world.

Btw, you do have a block feature.

FYI, Block means you won't have to read my post or replies.

No it wouldn't. Either your memory is flawed or you weren't even born then.

This is very true... it's not supportable, but is what it was in those days, an animal house in fraternities... just watch 80s movies like Nerds or whatever.

We are better now as a culture and that should be celebrated.
