A win is a win, no matter how you do it. I know it was not pretty but they still won. There were some other volleyball games that were played in the ACC and the top teams barely won those too. Stanford and Louisville barely won there games. There games was not 3-0 as people would have suspected them to be. This shows us that any team can get beat if you do not come with your A game every time. Sometimes, you will get a game where you are just not having a good game and you just have to grind out the win. I think this was one of those games for us against ND.

Yea awful first set, but after that, even match. We unfortunatley had no margin for error against them. Forcing a 5th would have been awesome but was very encouraged by the last 3 sets. We need to get 1 of 2 this week

Louisville at home may have been our best shot in the 4 game stretch-of-death vs top 10 teams, so it would have been great to scrap to an upset here. It certainly looked doable all throughout set 4. But regardless, I really liked seeing us competitive against a great team.

First set they exploited Malone's inability to receive service, and in generally we looked intimidated. Once we settled in and found some confidence this was a fight.

Kudos to Pearce for handling losing the starting job, then coming in and playing great.

Yea woulda much preferred playing someone else first.
Louisville was such a step up in class for us it took that first set to really adjust to everything

I am curious where you are pulling computer rankings from? Is this KPI?

The RPI ranking on the NCAA website has us at 39th as of games through 10/27:

I think in women's volleyball the selection committee will use both RPI and KPI, so it is weird that the NCAA website does not link to KPI as well.

what a fantastic win; just watched it on streaming. We may have caught SMU at the right time, with 2 of their top 3 players out injured. But you play with who you have and our women played fantastic!Hampton was dominant in the first two sets. Smith had a breakout game. We actually may have won more comfortably if we got the unforced errors under better control like the service failures, missed hits and a couple of runs with setting miscues.

I agree. They almost won this one, so close. They gave Pitt all they could handle and then some. This should be a great confidence booster moving forward. They can play with the best and they know it. The two minor errors hurt. This should help with recruiting. Who do we have coming in for next year? This program is now on the rise. Go Heels!

Heartbreaker, but this team has shown some resilience this season that was lacking in the past couple. Tough CA road trip next weekend starting w/ Stanford, another top 5 opponent, on Friday and Cal on Sunday.
