IL 2027 #3 Ryan Rodgers has committed to UNC. Here is IL’s write-up on the #2 attacker in the class who is UNC’s fourth 2027 commitment:

2. Ryan Rodgers, A, M&D, Deerfield (Conn.)
No. 3 Overall
Rodgers will be a highly sought after lefty attacker. Rodgers is a Colorado native and three-sport athlete who brings elements of her ice hockey skills to the field. She plays with aggression and control, using her IQ to dial in to a play with on target feeds and shots. Her between the 30s play adds another level to her appeal. She is quick and gritty on the draw circle and creates devastation on the ride.

edit: added commits through 9/10
I have updated the 2027 list above with all commits I have seen to date .

UNC is the only team with 3 top 10 players; only FL has two, and 8 of the 10 have committed.

UNC is the only team with 4 top 25 players, only FL & ND have three, and 19 of the 25 have committed.

It appears that Riley Davis remains as the top prize (thanks for the assist Airball!) but It is crazy to think that the elite 2027 recruiting is already almost over, nearly two full years before enrollment.

FWIW - a poster on Fanlax (doublesuited77) provides the following about Riley Davis:

“You all know that the Riley Davis who committed to Northwestern is not THAT Riley Davis. A great player who plays for Laxachussetes, but not the #1 player in the class.”

The announcement that I have seen seems to confirm this, but I have no independent knowledge.

Thanks for posting 3397char. To be honest, I am glad that Riley did not signed with BC. I do not mind at all that she went to NW. Besides, we got the number 2, number 3, and number 9 players in the 2027 class. I am elated with those results. BC coach whines to much for me when things do not go her way and the commentators make excuses for them as well IMO with the exception of Charlotte North. She calls it like she sees it and I have much love and respect for her although she did play at BC. I think she is a very good commentator. Go Heels!

Confirming this - the Riley Davis who committed to Northwestern is from Falmouth, ME and plays for Laxachusetts and Holderness School.

So the overall #1 Riley Davis from Chadds Ford, PA who plays for HHH Philly and Academy of Notre Dame de Namur is still uncommitted.

Five-star attacker Corey Kumin (MA) has committed to UNC; she is ranked #36 by Inside Lacrosse. Here are the comments from her performance at Best-in-Class in June:

COREY KUMIN | NOBLE AND GREENOUGH | MASS ELITE

“Kumin has quick and shifty footwork on her dodges and makes a ton of great decisions with and without the ball. I think she draws comparisons to Emma Lopinto where as she continues to develop, she can quarterback an offense from X. She impressed coaches with her hustle all over the field, and has a knack for tough finishes. She is also smart in the 2 man game as well - picking, slipping on and off the ball giving her the ability to play on the wings. Her calling card might just be her vision - she sees the field extremely well and she's the type of player that can step into an offense and understand how to attack a man-to-man defense or a zone.”

Here are IL’s comments from the same BIC camp:

“A dynamic attacker with a quick step, Kumin is dangerous on the cutting game. She reads the defense well timing her movements for the best catch to shoot opportunity. In addition to her cutting game, her field vision and IQ are shown with through her feeding abilities.”

Welcome, Corey.

What are thoughts on #1 Riley, is she interested in us?

i'll tell you what i heard. She's looking at all the top schools. But she's also looking to play basketball.

That makes it a bit more complicated with having to take up 2 roster spots.

i think that makes UNC unlikely. Unless she decides to just focus on lacrosse and takes a 5th year to play basketball later, which is what most players do.

I don’t think we’ve had a dual sport athlete on the WBB team during the Banghart tenure. It’s tough because the sport overlaps with all other seasons.

my guess is that the WBB staff would say no unless she was Basketball first. We tend to run up to the roster cap most seasons.

FWIW this article says she is delaying her WBB career to be Lacrosse first:

So I could see some sort of deal where she could fill a spot on the WBB team if and only if roster space becomes available through late transfer or injury, and she plays Lacrosse once Lacrosse season starts.

You are correct. Claudia Dickey played both soccer and basketball during the 2018-2019 when she was a freshman. Liz Roberts, Jaylen Murray, TK, SB, JB, SW were on this team then. Dickey was highly ranked in both sports coming out of high school.

That is good for here. She wants to play basketball as well and let's be honest, Penn State women's basketball team is not that good and the WLAX is Okay. I think that was a good decision for her. Also playing for your home state is a good thing. I do not think should could have made our WBB team. I am glad that she did not go to BC or NW for now. I am curious to see how long she will stay there once she gets there and have played there for a year. I would not be surprise if she were to hit the transfer portal after her freshman year. I wish her nothing but the best.

The list of Nike/Inside Lacrosse 5 stars left uncommitted continues to shrink quickly. There were 4 more that committed over the last day or so, leaving only 3 out of the 43 still available (2 attack, 1 defense).

The list of 4 stars also dwindling quickly with a pair of middies coming off the board yesterday.

Fewer 4-5 star listed as defenders (4 of 24) or goalies (2 of 14) left than middies (10 of 49) or attackers (9 of 25). Notably, UNC has landed no defenders (a bit surprising) nor goalies (not a need).

I think UNC still lands atleast 1 more player.

Corley showed heavy UNC interest but maybe that changed.

Pisano is unlikely.

Levy likes her defenders to be unraked or converted 2-way middies so it doesn't surprise me. I don't remember the last time UNC signed a ranked defender. Sam Forrest was a middie in HS.

That totally makes sense.

I've not paid close attention to the recruiting cycle in prior years, and had suspected that we might be taking middies who might move to A or D as the need and skill set direct. Frankly I am a bit skeptical about the A/M/D categorization from IL as I've seen a number of girls move from their club/school positions once they get to college, and not just M to A or D. I had recently spoke to a couple of defenders who had moved to attack on their college team. That's probably fairly rare, but illustrative of what can, and does, happen at the next level.

Ryan Leaman is a three-sport athlete (lacrosse, basketball, field hockey) from Wilson High School (PA). She was invited to the June session of Best-in-Class, where she was rated 4-stars. At BIC she showed her athleticism by having the second longest long jump at the camp. In basketball, she is a 5’9” point guard.

Welcome, Ryan.

Thanks for the information. Welcome to the family, Ryan Leaman. I was wondering if I was the only one that noticed that inside lacrosse will not give us props for lending the players that we are getting. The made a big deal about Florida landing some 5 stars but we have more. There is little to none write up on our ladies signing. I thought when Ryan Rodgers and the number 2 young lady signed with us, they would have a write up on that. I did not see one at all. Are they bias towards us or something? Someone please explain this to me. I am starting to think that they are bias towards us.

I don't think so. There's been plenty of write ups and attention for some noteable UNC recruits in the past. Not only on inside lacrosse, but US lacrosse magazine as well. There is alot of Chloe and Nicole from their recruiting days, Eliza Osburn and Charlotte Corkins, Emma Mccarthy, Caroline Godine, Jamie Ortega, etc.

Sometimes they are written before these players are committed, sometimes after.

Also Florida has their greatest recruiting class ever with 6 five star players so it makes sense if you look at it that way.

i wouldn't look too deep into it.

FWIW, two ranked attackers who reportedly had interest in UNC have committed elsewhere — #19 Enna Corley has committed to Stanford and #45 Savannah Higgins has committed to Michigan.

I believe only three of IL’s top 50 remain uncommitted, headlined by #7, attacker Allie Pisano (NY).

UNC’s recruitment of the 2027 class now totals six players. By any measure, this class is an unequivocal success, regardless of whether additional players are added. This class marks Carolina’s sixth consecutive exceptional recruiting class, all of which are ranked by IL as the #3 class or better. Each of these six classes have featured at least four players rated as 5-stars by Inside Lacrosse.

And then there was one.

The final 5-star recruit in IL’s top-10, Allie Pisano, has committed to Boston College. This leaves Byers Martin (#34) as the sole uncommitted 5-star recruit.

EDIT: Byers Martin committed to BC, also.

edit: updated 9/23 with assist from @zheel All top 50 complete
The entire top 50 have now committed and all but 4 of the 4-stars. I probably will not update again.

Schools with the most Top 50 Players:
  1. Florida 7 (4, 6, 17, 20, 26, 40, 44)
  2. UNC 5 (2, 3, 9, 22, 36)
  3. Boston College 5 (5, 7, 14, 34, 35)
  4. Notre Dame 4 (12, 15, 16, 42)
  5. Maryland 4 (10, 27, 31, 33)
  6. Clemson 4 (18, 25, 37, 48)
  7. Penn St 2 (1, 8)
  8. Yale (11, 28)
  9. UVA 2 (21, 23)
  10. Stanford 2 (19, 30)
  11. Syracuse 2 (13, 49)
  12. USC 2 (24, 33)
  13. FSU 2 (38, 47)
Notably, last year's #3 Northwestern has brought in 6 recruits but NONE are in the top 50 and only ONE has a 4-star rating...
