I think King and Humphrey may be close to locks, but the rest are gonna be tough except for Howie. If we offered Howie, he would probably commit. I doubt we get Thompson or Sanders, and I think a lot of people have been saying that for a while, especially with the relationship Thompson made with Martin and Bennett at the MS AL All Star game. If we get King, we won't offer Rogers. Nolen Smith will probably walk on here, especially if we get Humphrey. From what I know, that's my assumption. Would really like to get 3 lineman out of these next 2 weekends. Robinson, Eatmon, and Muniz/Howie.

Off that list... Howie Eatmon King Humphrey Smith Just feel like Brunetti sticks with West Virginia. Mississippi ends up with Thompson,Sanders, and Robinson.

If UM gets Thompson, Sanders AND Robinson, to add to Martin, Bennett and Parker....well, basically we would have just gotten our asses waxed in recruiting. 6 of the top 12.

Who knows who the real top players are, but going by rankings (which Bruiser doesn't get caught up in), they would have won.

So I hope you're wrong.

We could close fairly strong, something Croom never really could do in January. EXCEPT for maybe that 2007 class when he started feeling a warm seat due to three 3 win seasons - where he started putting forth some effort.

Mullen recruits like that every year, 24-7.

Is this a joke?

You really expect to gain commitments based on your strength coach?

Do do realize that every fanbase in the nation thinks that THEIR strength coach is the best in the nation, right?

Let me guess. You think your guys should contend next year because your strength coach has them getting quicker, stronger, more flexible, and faster than the other strength coaches in the SEC whose players are just eating twinkies in the offseason.

Mullen has said from the beginning his strategy is to dominate recruiting in the state of Mississippi. I don't think anyone would dispute we did that last year. Not overall class. I'm talking just the state of Ms. We have the potential to do it again this year. Using BDJ's rankings, we have 13 of the state's top 30 players committed. (Eulls, Car, Wells, Virges, Griffin, Johnson, Hughes, Love, Giles, Favre, Lewis, Hill, & Harrison) %#$! has 3. (Bennet, Parker, Martin). There are 7 players left on the board. (Robinson, Thompson, Sanders, Clark, King, Ruff, & Bailey) The way I see it. %#$! HAS to get Sanders AND Thompson. If they don't get both we will have literally cleaned house in the state of MS. The real question is what stategy is the best way to build a consistent winning program. Domintae your state or try to reach out regionally & beyond. I like what Mullen is doing. I think the way to go is to dominate your home state first.

Case 1: 08 Egg Bowl vs. 09 Egg Bowl.

It could be the strength coach, or it could be Hevesy. Or both. But they got a hell of a lot better in the "system", whoever's it was.

A smart recruit would go where they have the best chance to reach their full potential. The improvement seen in our OL since our Hevesy and Balis came to town in nothing short of a miracle. That has to factor in to a OL recruit's decision. Not the only factor - but a huge one.

I agree that your OL coach did a great job with the personnel he inheritted.

Its still silly to suggest that OLinemen are chosing schools based on strength coaches. It's a factor, just not a huge one.

OL coach, depth charts, recent success, players sent to the league, etc are all more important.

I am also laughing at the suggestion of best strength coach in the nation. Surely you've seen the message board jokes over the years about new strength coaches. Not saying your guys isn't good. Just saying I'm having a hard time finding some strength coach rankings.

now with the hiring of Diaz and Wilson, why would Thompson not rethink coming to play for a coach who has coached Oklahoma's D-line who yearly puts up top 10 draft picks......I think Thompson is a toss-up, Sanders and Coleman to OM, and we get Robinson

That things are looking good for us with Thompson. I don't think that OM gets Robinson. Supposdly his mom is wanting him at State. Sanders is my primary concern. I want to get him not really because I think he's that important but more because it's ridiculous to lose recruits from 30 minutes down the road.

In such a short period of time before signing day. Prince coached Thompson's brother Quention Groves at Auburn, the family has a well established relationship with him.

are always numerous articles about him and how he improves a football team... go google the guy matt balis is his name... I doubt you will see better strength coach resumes than his in college football...

there is no doubt we were stronger this year than last... the OL play was vastly improved... there is no wonder mullen's first call after accepting the job was to balis.. he did the same thing at Utah under meyer and florida and virginia...

3 national power lifting titles and one world title for him personally as well....

If I were an OL recruit, the weight room and the strength coach comes into play when making my decision if getting to the NFL is high on my priority list

and Thompson are not brothers. Families are close, but not related. Price is a factor however as you said.

I think we end up with a few of the remaining guys.

I don't understand people's willingness to say that Ole Miss will probably get Thompson and/or Robinson. For us, it is at worst 50/50 on Robinson and probably closer to 70/30. And we were looking very good with Thompson before Turner left. Yes, we have to overcome that, but it's not a huge deal. It's the DL coach. Wilson is very good, and ultimately, you're picking a school based on the program and the head coach, not the DL coach. I just don't know what people have heard that would suggest we'd lose both Robinson and Thompson. And we won't get Eatmon and Howie. We'll take one, Robinson, and then Dillon Day, who is a monster.

I think we will get Robinson too. If Coleman sticks with Auburn, I think you guys get Robinson. I think Coleman is going to stick with Auburn and Robinson is going to go to you guys. If Auburn were to offer Robinson, he'd go there, but that's not going to happen.

I think we will get Thompson and Sanders.

From the top twelve, that means we get five (Thompson, Sanders, Martin, Bennett, and Parker), you get five (Wells, Eulls, Johnson, Robinson, and Carr), and two go out of state (Coleman and Dickson).

If that happens, I'm glad to know we are at least starting to keep a large majority of the top guys in-state.

why would Thompson not rethink coming to play for a coach who has coached Oklahoma's D-line who yearly puts up top 10 draft picks
so I looked it up, and I was right, no Oklahoma defensive linemen was taken in the top 10 picks under Chris Wilson. Only one Oklahoma player was drafted in the top 10 during his tenure, and it was Adrian Peterson. In fact, he has never coached a first round pick.
