Who are the Underclassmen each program will have up in key spots on varsity? Fenwick's Soph class isn't very strong with top end talent but we have a freshman that is very special. Jacob Kaminski will play Varsity ball this year at LB/DE/TE for Fenwick. Who do you guys have playing up?

I'm guessing more and more schools will have underclassmen up on varsity to provide depth. In the past, most teams only brought up underclassmen if they were going to be contributors. With less kids playing, I think that philosophy may change. Was just looking at Naz' roster. They have 39 kids on varsity. 13 are sophs, and only 8 are seniors.

PJJP,

There is something wrong or incomplete with that roster. The quickest thing I see is that Cam Weems is not on the list and he's a team member...my guess is there are several other kids missing but I'm not going to figure out who the other 15-20 guys are.

Palatine only has 1 sophomore up, Mack Balanganayi's "little brother" who's a 6'3" 250 lb sophomore. They grow 'em big in that family. Historically they only bring them up if they're gonna start, like Carson Walker and Johnny O'Shea last year.

CG is projected to have two sophs up, Quinn Priester who may take the starting QB role but if not will land another starting spot; and Addison West, an absolute beast of a lineman. West should be on Edgy's list of who to watch in 2019.

Not sure. Got it off the school website. Maybe it's a preliminary roster and is not complete. Maybe Naz posters can shed some light.

Definitely not complete. Since they prefer to use 8to18 for payment it may only reflect those who paid the activity fee online rather than in person. I do know that the roster as it stands on that web page is certainly incorrect. Good catch PJJP.

TPF,

It may not be great day 1, but it will pay long term dividends. The formula for the past 5 years has been to play kids at the highest level they are capable of, or at minimum get them game reps to get them prepared for the future. Perhaps it's not everyone's philosophy of developing players but it seems to be the case at Naz and success has followed the formula.

I hear there is a large amount for Naz, not sure if that's good or bad.

I'm assuming it's also apart of Racki's recruiting pitch to get the kids to come there in the first place.

Maybe jwar will dish out the dirt now that he's gone? How does Nazareth land these kids from such a great distance? I've heard stories but I'm interested in your insight jwar.

WADR, it's a Naz thing... Friars likely wouldn't understand.

TPF,

There is no dirt to dish. There are no promises made by Coach Racki or any of his staff about playing time, about admission, or about tuition costs. In fact when it comes to tuition issues the administration is so squeaky clean there are times kids that would benefit most from going to Naz for a variety of reason land elsewhere because of promises made.

The distance for our family was a personal choice because the school, the teachers, and the coaches were teaching our 4 boys what we thought was most important to becoming great men and more importantly fathers as the grow into adulthood. They taught our boys to know the meaning of self reliance & responsibility from day one, ie nothing is given...everything in life will be earned!

Maybe jwar will dish out the dirt now that he's gone? How does Nazareth land these kids from such a great distance? I've heard stories but I'm interested in your insight jwar.

Sophomore RB, Caleb Henderson should get some significant playing time for Rockford Boylan this year.

Is Boylan otherwise still losing kids to the public schools and Lutheran?
Yes and no. Lutherans top kid just transferred to Rockford east, D1 kid going to WMU, and top incoming 9th grader is going to boylan.

Lutheran looks to be on the down, auburn is the the place to go. Boylan still very good at basketball and baseball, this is a key year for them in football.

Depends on the sophs. I'm guessing these three are physically ready for varsity play.

25 Cameron Leach RB/DL 6'1" 260 2019
67 Elijah Moscinski OL/DL 6'5" 320 2019
72 Matthew Keeler OL/DL 6'6" 290 2019

Zach Turner -Soph- will start at LB for Boylan. I would guess at some point during the season freshman RB Tray Malone will see some varsity action. He looks like Jerome Bettis and was very impressive in last nights soph scrimmage.

Is Turner a transfer? I don't remember him on Soph's last year. How much is Caleb Henderson going to play? I was hoping they would put him in the backfield and use Dal Santo and Washington as slot backs frequently.

Turner was a freshman on the soph roster but was injured in practice and never played in a game. He is the younger brother of Josh Turner #75 that started on the D- line the last 2 years.

Ok,thanks. Unusual that a kid's first action of real game hs football is at starting Mlb for the varsity. I knew Boylan was a little thin at LB there but that's still impressive. I hope they use Henderson at LB too.

Leach played varsity as a frosh. Started DL,
Not sure on the other 2 but good size. I hope so. I heard there's a frosh up and another handful of sophs. Can't confirm that though.
